After 10 years, I'm starting to realize that you can build a great body including legs and overall size/shape without squats. Yes, I squatted for some years, but i havn't for over a year and i've never looked better. Also, I see too many guys squatting big weight who look like crap.

You don't need any one exercise. However, if you have to pick one leg exercise, it should be squats in my opinion. Next to olympic lifts and deadlifts, no other exercise is going to call into play more musculature than a squat.

Yea, you dont need to workout either. But if you want big legs you should squat.

squats are definetly one of my favorite lifts

its just so direct..... i dont get a better leg workout doing legpress/extension/lunges.....

its pretty much the most natural leg movement... standing up

No it's not necessary at least for BB. A few pros (one that I know personally) never do them...there are effective and I do them for a few months and then back off for 1 month.

I never lose any gains when I stop doing them, but when I come back I really feel it and notice gains that weren't coming to a stagnant squat routine.

When i 1st started, as with many other exercises, i used to think squating was just about shifting weight and being crushed by the massive bar.

But now, im not doing that much weight but it's all about technique which I find much more comfortable and effective.

I agree, squats are not necessary, but a great exercise.
