Deadlifts: Grips fails before Back muscles do

in doing stiff legged deadlifts I am now getting the weight up to the 275 range. However, towards the ends of my sets my fingers lose their grip before I can adequately max out....so I'll only get 3 reps in instead of 4-6.

this may sound inconsequential, but its a problem.

work on your grip strength then. Do 3 reps and rest 20sec. and then do the next three. Next week try and only rest 15sec. between the 3 reps. Then 10sec. then 5sec...etc..

try wrist straps...unless you compete in powerlifting meets, b/c you can't use them in the meet...no point in practicing w/ 'em then

if you can't hold the weight then you shouldn't lift it. Grip is part of training your whole body to be strong.

Or...you could cut back on the weight until your grip works and then build up your grip along with your deadlift. You know...the right way.

i don't think he was talking about the bar slipping. I think he means just not having grip strength to hold the weight.

You can finish your day with double overhand grip deadlifts for strengthening the grip, and/or farmers walks are good.
