    NO more deadlifts and squats?

I injured my back and probobly very stupidly and stubbornly made it worse by continuiing to work out. Its gotten to a point where my back hurts in numerous places, even when i'm just sitting or standing. Worst part is that i never had a bad back before i started working out. well, i was wondering, can you still put on mass and have an effective workout without doing deadlifts and squats?

you're right...it would be better to cause permanent damage.

Permanent injuries are not fun. See a doctor and follow his/her advice. Chances are, if you start lifting again, eventually you'll say "Well I guess now I feel good enough" and then you'll start the deads and squats again... with the incorrect form... again. This will only make it worse. Just go to a doctor, follow the advice you're given, and start over using perfect form. You won't get hurt if you do it correctly.

ok just came back from the doctor. He said its only a muscle pull!!!(though it feels worse, but he's the doc),in the lower left part of my back. But he said no more working out for the next 2-3 weeks, and no strenuous activity at all for the next 10 days (not even running on a treadmill). I guess i got off easy. Still gonna be damn hard not to hit the weights.
So my question is, how do i eat now, b/c i am on a bulk that i just bumped up to 3000 cals, but if i'm not working out, should i still eat that much? won't i gain a ton of fat?
Also, can i expect to keep any of the muscle that i have gained or am i gonna deflate?

You'll be fine. Eat only clean foods and you won't gain any significant amount of fat in just a few weeks. Your muscles will not 'deflate' and muscle memory will help you get back your strength gains in no time.

Yeah, you can make gains without deadlifting or squatting, but go see a doctor anyway!

I'm a chronic back pain vet at 27, so listen to what I have to say and it will keep you in the gym. You have a pull in one section of your back which caused a "chain reaction" of spasm throughout which is why it hurt in so many places. I suggest you make an appointment with a good physical therapist, they will work the spasms out and help the healing process. Next time that happens head to the therapist, they should be putting you on heat and electric stimulation or ultrasound to get you lose.

A pull isn't that bad in reality, give it 10 days and I suggest hitting a stationary bike, it's the best thing in the world for me, I couldn't live without it. It's no impact and keeps my spinal errectors in check by giving them steady side to side stimulation. Whenever I start hurting I hit the bike. I have a broken vertebrae so I'm always in some state of constant spasm. I do front squats and deads, it gets me sore but over time my back has improved.

If you handle this correctly you shouldn't have ongoing problems. Work on your form too, sounds like there is an issue if you just started having problems.

DO WHATEVER THEY TELL YOU TO DO, YOU DO NOT WANT TO END UP LIKE ME, BELIEVE ME.

you cetainly can put on size without performing those exercises. I think I would just cry if I couldn't do them though.

well, even though i thought i was doing them right the whole time, i think when i get back to the gym i'm going to ask a trainer just to show me the proper form. Although i am sure i will be very hesitant at first to do these. And i might just wait a little longer before i start doing them again jusdt to give my back more time to heal.
Damn 3 days of not working out, this sucks.

So basically you are waiting to hear the answer you 'want' to hear?!
If you don't want to hear what 'may' be necessary to hear then why bother asking anyone??? Without seeing a doctor you have no way of knowing what damage you've caused and to what extent.
    Go see a doctor.
