    Arrow ~today in gym class i was benching and this guy....

    heres what happened, i was benching how i've been tought to do all my life (with good form) and everything was ok,i brought the bar down about 1/2" from my chest for about 5th rep and then i looked up and that jackass was staring at me and told me how to bench and i just rolled my eyes at him and finished my last 3reps how i was doing it lol...he told me i was suppose to let the bar sit on my chest and then push it back up...not to mention i had 160lbs on the bar,yeah i'm kinda not goin to rest it on my chest lol..is he retarded or something?

    Actually, to get the most out of each rep, you should pause at the bottom so that it takes maximum exertion to press it back up. I never stop before it touches my chest.

    I usually bench press touch and go style. I just make sure not to bounce it. I do, however, cycle in bottoms up bench presses into my routine if my starting strength needs a boost.
    The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

    You always have to touch your chest, and to not bounce you'll obviously have to come to a pause at the bottom position, so his advice wasn't just terrible. Still, the fact that told you this in the middle of your set would not only ruin that set I was doing for me but bother me throughout.
