    Jump Rope

    Hey guys.

I was wondering what your opinions on jump-roping for cardio are? I have heard that it puts a lot of stress on the knees, but I was getting bored of the treadmill, so I thought I'd switch it up. I can jump for about 15 mins straight, but will stop, if it is only going to cause me more harm than good.

My goal is to get to 40 mins non-stop, but I not sure if that will happen.

    Love it
When I boxed I did it all the time.....less stress on my knees than running was..
Did sets of 3 min on and 1 min off......for 20-30 min
I highly recommend all IronMagLabs supplements!

not a good idea at all as your HR will go through the roof. I would skip just like doing HIIT cardio. skip for 30 secs then walk in place for 30 secs. repeat until you have reached 15 minutes.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

I would think that it's fine, although I would probably implement some type of interval training using a jump rope. Also, you can reduce the stress on your knees by making sure you execute a bit of knee flexion upon landing, choose a softer surface to perform the exercise on, and buy some cross training or basketball shoes.

What if you did some circuit training with some sort of plyometrics, like some oly lifters?

i'm a jumprope fanatic. up to 50-60 min now. i got hooked during a jump and jab class golds use to have. i keep a ton of techno music in my mp3 player, perfect for keeping a fast pace. i do one legged jumps, side to side, front kicks, heels up, heel digs etc. always learning new things keeps it from being boring... knees hurt occasionally, i'm sure i'll have arthritis down the road... glucosamine seems to help. happy jumping!

I jump rope and the good thing about it, you can do it almost anywhere. You can carry a jump rope in your car or in your bag.
