cant do pull ups!!!! Please help!

I'm in the pre-enlistment program for the marine corps and to be in the first class fitness ranking you have to do about 15 pull ups in two minutes. I can only do about 4 before i hit the floor. What muscles should i be working on and what exorcises should i do to increase this number?

just work on doing pull ups.

If 15 pull ups is your goal then work on doing 15 pull ups. Do as many reps as you can. rest and then do more...do as many sets as you need to do until you get to 15. Each time try and do it in less sets.

You can also try doing negatives. Basically, start at the top and hold the bar until you are completely at the bottom portion. I did these when I couldn't do a pull up in order to develop some of the strength I needed. I can now do a few in a row, which is a huge improvement from not being able to do even one.

One arm negatives are also great. Those are killer. I haven't done them in a long time. It's giving me ideas...

Hah, I didn't even think of that for some reason. Good call though.
