shrugs how?

do you guys roll your shoulders with shrug.. or you just straight raise and the lower the weights?

the trapizeus muscles don't roll the shoulder. they elevate the scapula (upper traps) or they help to retract and depress it (middle/lower traps). if you want to work the muscle perform it using its proper action.

hrm thanks for this response finally something that actually makes sense.. but anyways .. i never roll my shoulders, and i hate the people that come up to me to tell me to roll my shoulders as it will let them grow faster. blah

I've heard that rolling can damage the rotator cuffs.

Ditto - rolling is no-no.

I think a slow and clean movement, without rolling, will achieve the desired effect.
