    Can someone help??

Ok well I had surgery on my knee about a month ago so that kind of put a damper on my lifting (atleast on my legs it did) I joined a gym looking to put some mass on my upper body until I could work my legs hard. Well I just broke my hand and I think I am completely screwed in the lifting area because of the da.. cast I have on my hand. Would it be a bad idea to just eat a decent amount of food to put some weight on and do some minor things at home? I am 22 and about 155lbs so I need to put weight on anyway. Yeah it wont be muscle but it will put some meat on my bones. Any help would be great. Thanks

You should definitely heal first! How did you break your hand? And your knee? Just curious It sucks but you will be happy you waited as compared to being unhappy and fat!

Man I'd cut cal's down to a little under maintence and make sure the food you eat is clean. otherwise here comes the fat.

Well I tore my acl, miniscus and cartlidge on both sides of my knee playing football then a week ago I got pissed at someone and stupid me punched a dresser. So I should just sit around and wait to heal?? I have this dam. cast on for at least 3 wks, I just feel like i'm getting weaker every day so I want to do something. I am trying to eat good but its hard to keep the cals down because i'm always hungry so i'm always eating. I also have a fast metabolism so I think its going to be hard to put on a decent amount of fat.

I'm sure it is hard to just sit there but eating is not the answer! Can you move your knee a lot or is it limited? You can't do much with the cast on, it looks to me like roughing out the time is really all you can do. Sorry, wish I had better advice.

Well I go to therapy for my knee but all I do there is just small exercises with weights just to get my muscle back, nothing to actually build muscle. Looks like i'm waiting it out and just sticking to crunches..its going to be a long month..

Like Tough said, focus on your diet while you heal.

what kind of knee surgery? A month or so post op you should be training or going to PT at least. You don't want to not move it or scar tissue build up will become a real problem for you.

Also, I would be training the arm and the leg that are still functional. It is important to keep moving and you will also get a crossover effect from the stimulation of the working sides. Once the cast comes off and you can train the other leg again start stretching and moving it through an active ROM with light weights. Build back up slowly.

I basically had a reconstructive surgery on my knee, replaced my acl, removed torn miniscus and stapled down torn cartlidge. But i have been going to therapy now for about a month using low weights to get my muscles working again. Well i'll have to watch what I eat and try to do some training on my good side. Thanks everyone for throwing in your posts, I needed as much feedback as possible. Can anyone think of exercises I can do at home while i'm waiting this out??

Damn dude...hope you get better soon. This is like that movie unbreakable with bruce willis. Anyone see that? Anyway, you shouldn't really be worrying about putting on weight, just wait it out and heal up. I mean, whats more important, muscles or health? My advice would be to watch as much porn as possible and drink some protein shakes after masturbating.
I'm coming in the gym, i'm coming at home, i'm coming in front of 25,000 people...it's fantastic!

Why thank you. I would say that you're hot too, but that would be an understatement. You're hotter...

That's what I was going to say. I'm very glad I kept doing unilateral movements when I sublexed my shoulder. Things are progressing on their way back to previous strength levels pretty quickly.

My mommy tells me mine will grow out of that stage too. I think she's lying to me.
