This Girl Tonight...
at the gym came up to me midset, i was squinting and grinding trying to get the last few reps up, and she taps me.. i don't move, fight another rep up.. she taps me again.. i say "hold on" and i finish my final rep up.. i take my head phones off and she goes:
"i've been personal trained here and you're not doing that excercise right." I looked at her, and with a smile, laughing hysterically inside, i wanted to hear her explanation. She tells me that "if you stop in the middle of the set (I took a few breaths for each of the last three reps before starting them) you're allowing oxygen in your muscles and you won't grow. what you need to do is lower the weight and have a fluid motion throughout the set." She walked away, I was in shock, and that was that. Now i agree that I probably shouldnt be taking as long as I did, especially on the last two, but it was freaking tough. Is that really a negative and is anything this whore said true? |

So, by her logic, one who deprives himself of oxygen will grow and one who breathes will not. Suddenly, so many things make sense now...
I've heard of many training methods where you do things like 20 rep sets with squats using your 10RM weight. You HAVE to stop to catch your breath. You can, of course, take breaks between reps. If you didn't, then you wouldn't really be pushing yourself that much (depending on how many reps you do of course - you shouldn't really need to with two reps or something like that). Maybe she should learn a little something about weight room safety. Never, ever be blatantly stupid enough to touch someone in the middle of a set unexpectedly... EVER. |

If anyone tapped me when I was squatting I would tell them to fuck off!!!!
And if they worked at the gym I would report them to the manager......explaining the danger they had put me in as well as the danger they had put the owners of the gym in by her reckless and unprofessional behavior. |

We had a member here who explained how an interuption during squats left him with a lifelong injury.
I would have had a hard time containing my fury, honestly I would have pretty much demanded for them to fuck off and stay away from me. NEVER INTERUPT SOMEONE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SET ESPECIALLY: Squats or Olympic lifts I want to see someone ask a question when someone has just completed a clean and jerk, and then get the weight thrown at them. |

She doesn't know what the Hell she is talking about. Oxygen is entering your muscles all day long. Blood carries oxygen. I don't care if you're doing a 3RM. There is still oxygen going into your muscles. It may not be sufficient to power the action at hand, but it is still there.
Tell that bitch to never ever touch anyone in the middle of a set ever again. I will fucking kirk on your if you touch me while I'm doing squats. |

Both my dad and i have had a similar incidents like this.
On flat bench press i ony go to 90' because I dont want to aggrivate my old old rotator cuff injury so i drop the weight and make the movement really focused. So... this unmuscled guy decided to correct and say that I should go all the way down and bounce it if i have to to finish the rep. I was infuriated but decided to just passify him. |

What??? you don't take paypal?? I personally don't like to bother people even after they're through a tough set for a minute or so anyhow. If you do, all you're gonna get is a hand held out to tell you to give them a minute to catch their breath anyhow, or they'll just blurt out something unable to be put together as a sentence anyhow.
