I prefer to get my numbers without the use of lifting aids. I would also imagine that wraps put unecessary shearing forces on your knees...

they do really drive the patella back creating shear forces. I don't like to use them. You can really get 25-35 more pounds out of the wraps?

You can also get 50 extra pounds by putting a spring under your ass, but are your quads really benefitting?

Speaking as someone who's torn a patellar tendon so bad I needed surgery, do NOT use the wraps. Just concentrate on strict form and exercise your muscles, not your joints. If you want a great change of pace to wake up your quads/hams, try doing front squats for a while. They really isolate the upper legs without all the stress on your knees.
