    Most effective horizontal row

Im trying to figure out what the 'best' horizontal row is. I know there is no one best anything, but ive always looked at bent rows (yates style, 45 degree waist bend) as the most effective low row, and pullups as the most effective high row.

Currently im thinking its one arm dumbell rows, if you perform the row with your upper body parallel to the ground.
anyone else got an opinion on this?

I like bent over DB rows, both arm at the same time personally.

I like yates rows as well. It's been a while since I've tried other rows, but I was never able to get the form down right (or so it seemed). I like pull ups and chin ups for high rows.

I would say that I prefer good ol' bent rows or perhaps Yates' rows. Although I do like unilateral rowing as well. As far as machines go, I do think seated cable rows are pretty good too.

On the vertical plane, it's all about chinups. I like a close or moderate grip underhanded chinup.

I'm a 1-arm DB row person right now. Plan on trying other BB used rows when I get back to the states though. And I'm also a new fan of pullups, thanks to CowPimp selling them on a few different threads.

Haha, awesome. Pullups kickass. One of the most demanding exercises you can do!

Yea, I know. I had to move them first in my workout since I'm a pansy and can't do very many right now.

I want to try power straights, actually.

I doubt I could do even one at the moment, but, given space, I could probably work on it.

Personally, I like 1 arm DB rows the best right now. I might give 2 arm DB rows a try sometime.

I could try it on a separated pullup bar like we have. I bet I could do at least a few of those. They look tough though. I bet it would be even harder on the split bar because I can't lean on it to get myself higher. Hmmm...

Hammer Strength actually makes a couple good row machines...the high row and the Dorian Yates Row machine. Right now when I work back, I start with WG lat pulldowns, then DY rows, High Rows, Seated pulley rows, then one arm dumbell rows, and to finish I do close grip lat pulls
