Agreed. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer higher intensity cardiovascular activity.

What debate? Im not debating, just wondering if anyone had the article so i could give it a read and show it to a few others that dont believe walking has any real value. Tryed to find it here, no luck, and google wasnt much of a help either.

that's the point. i agree there is value to walking but in NO way does it even compare to high intensity interval training.

O ok, yeah should've been clearer in my original post. Some guys i know think walking is really no value and that its for "old people". Just wanted to show them that it has some good value.

like I said, check pubmed.com. You can find tons of stuff on the topic there.

You would have to walk pretty fast to get your heart rate up to a real aerobic cardio pace.

You guys have to take into consideration where the person is starting. For some people, walking will get the heart rate plenty motivated. I know because I've been there.

I would not expect, nor instruct, a 400 pound person to run 10MPH if they dont want to be a fatass anymore. You'd be sending them to death, and they probably would never even reach 10 MPH.

"Walking is better than running for fat loss" is what fat lazy people tell themselves to justify being too lazy to run.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Yeah, but in that case the walking will be higher intensity than walking for a more healthy individual. Intensity is relative. Also, people definitely have to acclimate themselves to the rigors of exercise if they have been living a sedentary lifestyle. I agree with you there.

Obviously there are plenty of exceptions. Nonetheless, I still prefer higher intensity cardiovascular activity if it is applicable to the person in question.

Thats exactly what I'm saying, you can't make broad statements that "is better" because you have to know who you are dealing with. There are plenty of fat asses who will hit an easy 150+ heart rate from fast walking alone.

This is true. Even so, that now makes walking a high intensity cardiovascular activity because of their untrained nature.

Also, I said "I prefer." You have to keep in mind that I owned that statement, and no one ever really said that it's better.
