most of the really hardcore gyms are not really manhattan, they are more out in long island and are pretty difficult to find.

wait for P-funk to see this post in the morning and he'll probably be able to help you out. if you want to come to brooklyn there is a fairly hardcore gym that i lift in, no oly platforms but there is a power rack which no one ever really uses except me and people don't care if you drop the weights.

There are hardcore gyms like 19th street gym. As far as a powerlifting gym goes though, they don't have chains and a monolift and that stuff. There is a velocity fitness on the east side around like 57th st. and there is a gym on the westside whos name I can't remeber, around 40 something. They both have platforms and all that stuff but the membership is out of hand. There are hardcore gyms on long island like Iron Island which is pretty much as good as it gets.

Hell, I've read of Iron Island Gym and I don't even live in New York. I hear they have racks galore there. Man I wish that was my gym. Heh.

I wish I had a spare $3000, I would buy an olympic training set, and a squat rack

yea, it is way out on the island though. I wish it were closer to the city.

Oh, the gym on the westide of manhattan that has olympic platforms and such is called Peak Performance. It is a lot like Velocity fitness. Both nice places but both have high prices.
