Bench Press :Bands
Hi, I made my own bands today for benching.
I read powerlifters use this. My quastion is that is it ok to use them all the time about twice a week? Or is that a once a month thing that you do? Thanks for the help in advance. |

They are not used all the time, to save the joints and CNS. Resistance is approximately up to, 100 pounds per band depending on the task at hand (where resistance should be, etc).

I dunno how much resistance my bands are, but judging by the way it feels, i'd guestimate around 40lbs. Alright, thanks Mudge, I appreciate the comment.

I would cycle it in for a few weeks as part of a program and then drop it for something else. All the time will be to much. Also, why twice a week? If you are doing them on a westside routine you should use them once a week on dynamic effort day and then do something different on you maximum effort day.

and how did you make you own bands? I would be afraid of them snapping on me and throwing off the bar in the middle of a rep. make sure they are sturdy!

Well, I didnt exactly make em, my dad had some bands he uses to strap stuff onto the roof of his car, so I took a few of those.
So you think it's alright to use them once a week on dynamic days? |

Also, keep in mind that if the lockout portion of your bench press (Or any other lift that might warrant their usage) is not your weak point, then the bands will be less beneficial.
