Yeah, rest-pause squats are rough. I've also done rest-pause Turkish getups and farmer's walks. God, the getups are rough rest-pause style. They are so damned metabolically active that it is ridiculous.

Hitting a PR clean of 273 a while back, and then having my russian coach tell me, "you sit in hole I say when you come up". I sat there for a minute or so before me wanted me to come up . Then he had me go for a PR in the front squat. All was normal, and when I finally got up to my PR set he told me to sit in the hole again, . My glutes never felt as stretched out as they did that day!

Probably the density workout with 10 second Rest Intervals on leg day

Squats > SLDL's > Calves (Main Lifts)

6 count in the hole, 6 count in the stretch position (heaviest weight i could handle)

Density work - 10 seconds rest in between sets

Front Squats, Leg Ext, Leg Curls, Calf work ..

one word

Brutal.

Thanks give it a try, say that afterwards . It helps a lot, but it's not very enjoyable to say the least.

I did some hardcore Westside stuff, but the worst workouts I ever did actually involved cardiovascualr effort.

I used to do this interval deal with the black medicine ball, I think it was 10lbs. I would hold the ball over my head, and sprint up and down the stairs one at a time for 3 attempts. I would then break until my HR was at 120, then, I would sprint up with the med ball over my head skipping every other step on the way up and hitting every step on the way down for 4 sets. I would break until my heart rate got to 120 and then I would skip 2 steps at a time on the way up and hit every step on the way down for 5 sets. I think the flight of stairs was 10 steps up. I would go 1 step, 2 step, 3 step, 3 step, 2 step, 1 step, 1 step, 2 step, 3 step, 3 step, 2 step, 1 step. It would take me a half an hour and by around the 3rd set of 2 steps my HR wouldn't go below 130 so I had to go then. By the end I couldn't even pick the medicine ball up off of the ground and walking was a chore.

If sense were common, everyone would have it.

A giant set of...

-leg extensions...15 reps
-hack squats...10 reps
-leg extensions...15 reps
-leg press...10 reps

All to failure with no rest in between movements, done three times through. Threw up, almost passed out...was in bed for two days. Dumbest thing I ever did, although it DID teach me to tolerate pain on a whole new level.

Damn gopro, you're a sick individual.

The worst thing I ever did was a dropset of squats.

10 @ 200
10 @ 190
10 @ 180
10 @ 170
10 @ 160

I barely racked the bar and then hit the floor. I couldn't move for at least ten minutes. I have a vague recollection of trying to breath and not wanting to die.

Worst Cardio was when my friends and I did guerrilla cardio.
All out sprint for 20 seconds, walk 10, sprint 10, walk 10
over and over for 5 minutes......twice, I have never puked from intense labor like that, but I was damn close that day.

Hardest workout was when our coaches made up do
up-downs, which I believe is similar to turkish get ups.

You are standing up, slightly bent at the knees, then you hit the floor, do a pushup, and then yank your knees up to your chest and jump up.

One day we did those for the longest ass time.

I couldn't lift my arms over my head at all, I had to get someone help me get my shirt off in the locker room. And the next few days I couldn't either.
My tris were sore for 11 days.

Squats: 10 sets - 10 reps each - 60 seconds rest in between.

Psyching myself to do it again next week. The last one turned into more of a cardio session, so this time I'm going heavier and not limiting the rest between sets so much.

Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???

10 sets of 10 for bench, we were working out with 275 for 4 sets of 10 at the time, and did this old 50's workout.....only used 225 and it was a bitch by the 7th or 8th set..

In terms of "side effects" my craziest was throwing up twice in the gym, the second time I didn't get enough warning and I projectile vomitted on the wall. I would become very white in the face, and often lie on the ground between sets. Eventually I took this as my warning, and I would probably only do one more set.

The next two times were out of the car door on the way home, .7 miles away.

Then I lied on the couch for around an hour. My leg days were pretty traumatic, even with up to 10 minutes of rest between sets.

Um...

Day 1: Chest and back

Day 2: Legs and abs

Day 3: Off

Day 4: Biceps and triceps

Day 5: Off

Day 6: Anterior/medial deltoid and rear deltoid

Day 7: Off

That's the split posted...If it's so taxing why would you do all of the large muscles in 2 days, why not this:

This one time I went in the gym and curled 20lb DB's for high reps of 12 and then I did forearm curls, 2 sets of 8 right after. I couldn't walk right for a week.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

Most insane without outside pressure? Probably trying to lose weight for weigh-ins. Try doing 30 mins agressive cardio then full round of nautilus machines, then another 30mins cardio while bundled-up in 2-3 sweatsuits with a trashbag underneath, gloves, and a neoprene facemask.

Most insane under pressure? Boot Camp....

Up at 4:30, 1.5 mi run, pushups 'till ya can't anymore, then shower, march around and sweat in the heat (Florida!!), change back to PT gear, double-time around the base, etc. All that BEFORE lunch....glad I only had to do it once.

That's funny, you didn't strike me as a "walking on my hands" type.

It's not the Split that gets you it's the fact that "every set is in fact a superset of two exercises working the same muscle group. The first exercise in the superset is a big compound movement (e.g. bench press, squat, deadlift, row, even clean or snatch) and it's done for five reps using as much weight as possible. The second exercise in the superset is an isolation movement for the main muscle being worked in the first exercise. This second exercise is also done for five reps, but with a small load and a very slow tempo (6 seconds down; 2 seconds up )."

I suggest trying it for at least a month, you'll realy feel and see the difference.

And it really tricks your mind cause you're thinking I can pump out 5 reps easy, but arounfd the end of the 3rd set you're thinking you might not make to the 5th.
