You need to lose the fat sitting on top of the muscles, or maybe you just aren't contracting them hard enough?

soccer is a tough sport. just because it is not popular in america, does not mean shit. soccer is the most popular sport in the world.

No one has answered my question yet though. Im not looking to have rock hard muscles all year round. Im jus looking to make my muscles harder cuz they are relatively soft. Someone mention i had to lose the layer of fat covering my muscles but i dont really have much fat covering my muscles. Its just that my muscles arent hard or should be harder when i flex. Can someone please answer my question and not go off subject. What do i do lower reps heavier weights or higher reps lower weights? Also which is best for strength training lower reps or higher reps?

The guy who said to lower BF was right. Chances are, you have a small layer of fat over the muscles. If you're currently on anything (such as creatine) get off and you'll lose some of that water retention, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. You'd be surprised what losing a little fat will do as far as making an aesthetic difference.

Strength training: generally low volume, high intensity and maximal weights.
You cannot 'tone' your muscles by using higher reps. Things such as shape, peak, and which 'parts' of the muscle seem more developed are all genetic.

To lower BF%, you can do one of three things: 1) lower your BF; 2) increase your LBM (lean body mass) or; 3) any combination of (1) and (2). To do (1), see the diet and nutrition section of the forums. To do (2), start a mass routine - search for CowPimp's templates of full body and beginner split routines - you'll find excellent beginner routines you can adjust to your specific goals.

Squaggle reminded me of another possibility. You may be retaining a lot of water. If you reduce your consumption of carbohydrates a little bit and start ingesting 4-6 liters of water daily, then you will likely drop some water. This may help your muscles feel harder as there won't be quite as much fluid between it and the surface of your skin.

Unfortunately, not everyone can have "rock hard" muscles without getting to unhealthy levels of body fat and dehydrating themselves. I am one of those people. Even at 10% body fat and below I have a soft texture so to speak. It is very strange, but has been noted by several females.

Are you seriously trying to justify an activity with the fact that it's popular? You know what else used to be popular? Pet rocks. Does that mean they were the best pets? Not really... People are stupid. Using an example of large numbers of stupid people doesn't justify anything.

Likewise, weightlifting is not as popular as some other sports, but it's the best one in my opinion. It takes so much strength and power it's crazy...

I think soccer is one badass sport. It takes tremendous amounts of power, endurance, skill, agility and coordination. Soccer players are always really good athletes and can usually be competitive in other sports.

i agree it take endurance, skill, agility and coordination, but it take very little stregth or power to play, it is a very passive sport and always has players faking getting fouled much like basketball, hockey and football take much more stregth and power to play no doubt, soccer is a sport for elfs and women
