How long have you been training????
How much are your training opinions based in experiance vs reading some book or flavor of the year training program??

Education > experience.
Besides, books are typically much more informative than misleading training and crap routines.

10 years consistently.
I have learned more in the last 2 than the previous 8 combined.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

The little bit of knowledge I have came from experienced guys I know, as well as articles written by RESPECTED fitness/strength experts such as Dave Barr, Joel Marion, Chad Waterbury, Christian Thibadeau, etc. I've also learned from forums with people who know their stuff.

I for one have been training off and on since high school, started sophomore year maybe 5 or 6 years ago. But have only really been doing some good the last 2-3 years. In the next 2-3 years I plan to compete, and win.
About 12 years on and off.
From the Ashes....
5 years, almost 6, overtrained like crazy and saw little mass gain till past year or so, biggest gains in the past year or so due to eating alot better and training less
been training regularly since 98-99....
but not intelligently until mid 2003..

This is true, but do you realize how many people don't have the knowledge to change their routines if they're not working? All the experience in the world means nothing if you don't have the knowledge or sense to act upon it.Originally Posted by PWGriffin

6 years off and on, the first one was wasted with Muscle and Fitness type workouts. and i'm not counting working out in my room with cement weights and a ghetto rigged bench, doing only curls and bench![]()

About 4 years...on and off...mostly on except shitty.
Last 5-6 months I have kept up really well, making sure I don't take a month off because of stupid reasons like work....
Eating right for last 6 months...
Oh just what I wanted to hear. Wisdom comes from sense not old age. Thank i'll stop listening to my Dad and start listening to all these 16 years who know every fucking thing. Shit the 16 years now days seem like they get there information from the 6 year olds. So what's wrong with my 53 year old ass listening to Snailboggin.Originally Posted by Squaggleboggin

If your dad is someone you listen to, obviously he had the sense to use his experience. I think old people are just offended because experience is all some of them have. Not you in particular, but a lot of people aren't very happy when they hear something that contradicts what is always said. Sorry some people don't understand logic. Experience is nothing without the knowledge and sense to learn from it.Originally Posted by Tough Old Man
Again, so many people have been working out for years but know absolutely nothing about how to make new gains. They don't have a clue why they can't seem to get bigger or stronger. They have the experience. You tell me what they're lacking then.

True, you can be ignorant your whole life and not know shit. Experience + intelligence is key. Have just one or the other and you don't really know anything.
I've been lifting consistently since August 2003.
I dabbled a bit when I wrestled my freshman year in high school, and I also took a weightlifting class that same year. Stopped until some time early in 2003, but went on a 2 month vacation shortly after beginning. I just did bodyweight stuff while I was gone.
