    My knees......

I have recently been under a lot of stress from both of my knees aching all day long...... just yesterday it took a turn for the worse as well

Currently I'm on cycle(about to finish in about a week), and all of my lifts have gone up, especially my leg press. Through ALL of my lifting days, even at the point of my last leg day before I noticed the pain, I did NOT feel ANY pain or stress like this on my knees.

One night about a week and a half ago I played football with my friends after a snowstorm and I took some hits to the knees...... it wasn't anything much at all, as in not big hits on my knees at all, not even enough to make me stop and think about my legs. That night after showering I started noticing some aching and weakness in both of my knees.
I didn't really do anything for about a week, and I think my knees were slowly getting better. I definetly still felt this dry scraping pain though in both my knees...
Last night I played some basketball in doors with my friends, for maybe an hour of some decent movement. My knees definetly felt a bit different, but my guess was that was just because I've put on some weight. Last night however, just like after I played football the first time, it hurt real bad. I was having a real hard time navigating around my house, namely going down stairs.
This morning I felt alright.... the weakness was there in my knees, this like dry aching pain, but it was bearable as it pretty much has been all along. Today was my last leg day on cycle, so I thought I'd give it a go.

Leg presses and squats went fine, with slight stiffness, but hamstring curls are now extremely painful. I can't even do one rep because it feels as if something will tear. This is the only exercise that brings out my pain, and I can't tell why.
The pain feels like its coming from the front of my knee, just under the patella. What confuses me why it hurts in weighted contraction, but not in extension.

I understand how ligaments take longer to build while on cycle, but it doesn't seem like it came from lifting, and rather from that football game. Is there anything I can do? Are there stretches to help repair this? I have minor swelling, but nothing serious. I've never had a knee injury before so I'm fairly worried, and close to going to see a doctor just to be sure. Should I go to see one?

    Thanks for any input

maybe it is the shit you are on that is making your joints achey? I don't know anything about that shit. You may want to post in the anabolic forum.

maybe you are progressing your strength fast and your tendons can't keep up.

thats at first what I thought, but wouldn't it have started on leg day/post leg workout? I only started after I played a sport, and it hasn't relented yet.... in fact it got a bit worse...

Also my leg press went up, and if I did have "too much strength for my tendons"(I don't think I do, I didn't get THAT much stronger), shouldn't it hurt when I do the leg press? Or even squats...
It weird because it only hurts when I do hamstring curls, with a contracting motion. I don't even think a hamstring curl is supposed to hit the knee, but it really hurts when I do it.

Is there a certain vitamin or supplement I should look into maybe? Something that promotes ligament repairs?

you hamstring flexes your knee. Maybe you have pulled or torn a hamstring muscle? You just might not see that on the leg press because you could be overcompensating with other muscles.

    hmm....... maybe
I can't say I feel any pain in my hamstrings though, and I do deadlifts on a separate day just about pain free as well(thank goodness, cause I havn't been able to dohamstrings with my quads in about two and a half weeks)
The only time I REALLY feel the pain directly is through concentration movements...... confuses me

I appreciate the help though P
I think I might take a week off from legs and see how it progesses. If its still bad then I better get my ass to a doctor to get a look.

like is said...it could be overcompensation on other lifts which is why you only feel it on a specific exercise that is deals with that single joint.

If there is an imbalance, it would probably have occurred over a longer period of time; I doubt you'd just notice it after a leg day all of a sudden. I don't know much when it comes to this, but I'd guess it would be a gradual thing.

    Hey Hlanderr,

All I can add is my experience..... When I lift heavy, it can only be for 3 weeks at a shot before I back off and do some functional training to rest my joints. Otherwise It feels like someone poured concrete in my knees!!!

Also I have to back off all contact/impact sports on these phases. I'm 43 and have abused my self, so now I'm listing and I back right off.....

I don't know your age but maybe you just hit it to hard for to long, and need to shorten up heavy cycles??? Take care of your joints.
