Hey everyone. I am leaving for the Air Force soon. About a month ago, I bought a weight vest, weighs about 22 pounds. I have been doing pullups, dips, pushups, jumping rope, and Running with this vest. Does anyone know any other workouts I could do with this.
BUT now back to the question. This probably belongs in the supplements question, but what can I do or take to help this soreness go away quicker, I am resting, getting about 7 hours of sleep, Eating much better. Thanks for the help.
That's a good article about improved recovery. Another thing I do is light workouts as opposed to days off. This aids recovery in the form of increased blood flow.
Also, there are a lot of great exercises you can do with just your bodyweight. Do some searches for posts I have made and bodyweight exercises. I would say the biggies are unilateral exercises and plyometrics.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

I really liked the article about recovery... it had a lot of nice pointers and advice about the best restorative measures that are needed to grow mass and speed recovery... however, does anyone else think that this guy's recommendation is a little crazy for a pre- or post w/o shake... Look at the SUGAR LEVELS in this shake!!! http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=459244

It's called an insulin spike. About the only time it is desireable is during and after a workout. Insulin is a storage hormone. When you get a surge of it during and after your workout, then those calories are much more likely to be stored as muscle glycogen. This is a good thing. As well, the surge of insulin and blood sugar helps reduce the effects of catabolic hormones that accumulate during a strenuous workout.
I just make my own "surge" currently. I take 8oz of skim milk, throw in 70g of dextrose, and dump in 2 scoops of whey (Which contains a total of 8g of maltodextrin). Dextrose is an isomer of glucose which is broken down and enters the bloodstream even easier than glucose itself, thus causing the insulin spike.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
