why does overtraining seem to work for me?

    hello!
i am new to this site - but have alot of respect for the information given here!
    my problem is this.....
when ever i bench press every day for like months the amount of reps i can do on my heavyist weights goes up and up and up! However if i listern to people who say you must give it a two or three day break or your just overtraining the amount of reps i can do on my heavyist weights goes down like i can lose two reps off my heavyist weights in a week! it makes me think the more time i take off the more i can bench will go down??
is it possible that for me working out every day is better than having two or three day breaks??
also - i tend to lose two or three reps of my heavyist weights if i take a week off??
im 24 and 6"7 and 14.5 stone also - i dont know if that will make any difference?
    using the dog crap system?
    any opinions will be appreciated?

how long do you go on the phase of training where you do bench press everyday?

It is the same reason that olympc lifters progress at rapid rates when they build up their volume and do snatch and clean and jerk everyday.

what exactly does the routine look like and how long does it last for? We need specifics. there are a few reasons why it could be working but it is hard to answer without the details.

hmm.. ok! let me think - i'll explain it as best i can...
ive never had to write down how i work before..
i just train the same all the time - until my energy is low and i cant do 6 reps of my heavyist weight in the first set which takes about two weeks - i then wait a day or two until it comes back and just carry on - kinda like listerning to my body more than anything else?although im always in a low dull almost
pleasant amount of pain - when it becomes stabbing pain i take the one or two days off!
my routine looks somthing like this?

    75kg x 6 reps x 3 sets - last set can some times be 5
    65kg x 6 x 3 - again somtimes down to 4 or 5 on last set
    60kg x 6 x 2
    55kg x 6 x 3
    barcurl 35kg x 12 x 6 sets
    overhead press 35kg x 12 x 3 sets
    overhead press 25kg x 12 x 3 sets
dead lift 50k x 17 x 6 or more sets - until back burns out!

Thats about it really? why do i get the feeling im about to get kicked?lol
the routine itself can go on for as long as 4 or 5 hours cos i smoke and listern to music while doing it - i always train to failier and once i reach 6 reps on an excercise i add 2.5kg - i think if i worked out every day like this i would on average gain 5kg a month (it looks that way anyway?)
but it seems to be bad practise - so i try to take 2 days off!
any help at all will be very VERY much appreciated!!lol

cos i think at 77.5kg i could only do like 1 or 2 reps which doesnt seem enough? when i hit 6 reps on 75kg thats just on failier (so far) - i have to push my chest slightly up to get the bar to the bench - its like 6 and a 1/4 reps! lol

Bro I don't mean to nitpick here, but even a 15 year old should know that the correct verb is "increase."

If you're working out 4 or 5 hours, you're crazy. And if you smoke while you workout, your something below crazy, like foolish.

Honestly, don't work out for 4 or 5 hours unless you have no other goals in life than to lift "75 kilograms" -

How much have you progressed on this routine? How long have you done it for (week straight)? How often do you set new PRs?

I ask because when I was younger I used to do the same exercises everyday for a long time (not knowing any better) and I would make improvements on them until I didn't improve at all (sometimes got weaker with them) and then I would switch to different exercises after taking a week off. It is like fitness fatigue. You are just overloading yourself with the movement until you hit the wall and then you take a break and let your new increased level of fitness catch up to the level of fatigue that you have accumulated over weeks of training (aka acclimation/intensification).

    This sounds like major bullshit.

He does chest for 2-3 hours followed by another 1-2 hours of other exercising, while smoking????

Fuck that, he's just trying to start shit.

Maybe if he said he was drinking protein shakes + creatine + dbol the whole time I would believe it.

I believe him........I can easily imagine smokin and zoning out to music with working out for hours......I'm not saying it's smart though.

Do the shit that you are doing until you hit a plateau. You hit that shit, then you know it's time to change shit up a bit. You feel me?

I add 5kg to my bench a month on average? i started working out like this about a 15 month ago! For the first 3 month its was this routine with lower weights obviously lol and then i started reading about overtraining so i took 2 day breaks and kinda believed it for a while (3 months) - until i felt like i wasnt doing enough i think my progress came to a standstill almost so i just did what i wanted again?the burning myself out routine - lol for about a year - i live on salmon mackerel and chicken tho - with pasta and fruit for like high energy - and i have used creatine about three times! also i took a month or two off and i couldnt lift 60k LMAO! - it was like pushing against a wall - but my arms and chest and shoulders remained the same size (larger than normal) - then when i started working out again and built even more size until
i got where i am now (with my strength back)!

It is like fitness fatigue. You are just overloading yourself with the movement until you hit the wall and then you take a break and let your new increased level of fitness catch up to the level of fatigue that you have accumulated over weeks of training (aka acclimation/intensification).

This sounds like what im doing - but im not sure i fully understand it!
and whats the alternative - am i progressing at a slow pace on this routine?
thats my greatest fear - if im not progressing as fast as i could be!!!!
i dont understand how cutting my routine to an hour will enhance the effects?
