    Muscle contraction

I am putting this in the training forum hoping that i can get some advice to incorporate into my training to help with this issue.

Sometimes when i stretch/flex my body, my muscles contract and get 'stuck' in that position. This instantly gets very painful. I have to use my hands to massage it to relax it. This happens with my calves and/or front of my feet and toes when i streatch in the morning, immediately after waking up. As a result i have learnt to consiously avoid streatching to prevent this. However early mornining is not the only time when this has happened.

This issue has been there for a long time. Looking for any suggestions as to what in can incorporate into my training to avoid this situation. Currently doing a 3x heavy/light/heavy Full Body wo.

Sounds like ordinary muscle cramping to me...

I just wish there was a way to prevent this. My water intake is ~4L/day, so i dont think it is due to low hydration.

Im not possitive on it's trueness.. but I have heard that if you increase your potassium intake then you will decrease your risk of cramping. Again.. not possitive if its true but if it is.. then I hope it helps

Being well-nourished does help. I believe I've read the same think about good old K, but I'm not sure of its validity either. A good idea would be to take a daily multivitamin, which will actually help with a lot of things, such as nutrient absorption and general efficiency of the body.

Happens to my calves on occasion. Extremely painful. Usually I wake up to find it happening in the middle of the night. Once I was on the seated leg curl machine and my calve contracted without my control and it would not let up. It was some of the worse pain I have ever felt. I had to have someone help me over to an open area so I could lay down it was so bad. I just fell over and it was hard to see because my eyes were filled with purple flashy dots. I felt like I was going to throw up. My right calve was tender for the next week. Never going back on that machine again! I heard that eating a banana will stop this almost instantly. I know that tennis players eat bananas when they cramp up towards the end of matches. There might be something you could put in your diet to help also.

I never had a problem while exercising (thankfully). But yea, it really really hurts!

Diet is on point ever since got serious with my BB diet. Calf hasnt cramped in a long while, but i dont want to try and find out I eat 1 banana everyday + 1multivit. Also i usually have ~3/4 cup brocolli (high in potassium) everyday.

If this is true then K is probably what stops it. Bananas are very rich in K.

Intake electrolytes. Pediasure has plenty of them.

How is the sodium (An electrolyte) intake in your diet? Someitmes when trying to eat healthy, we as active individuals actually intake insufficient amounts of sodium.
