If you are referring to a hand ergometer, upper body endurance and maintenance of aerobic system while the lower body is injured.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

well yes, its a hand ergometer. But i was wondering how good of a workout it is? Like for cutting up oyur upper body, or even strength training. Basically I was just curious to see what benifits come from useing a machine of this type. Since they just put a couple of the in my gym.

You can probably expect similar results that you would see in bike riding in your lower body. Increased endurance and cardiovascular health as Dale said would definitely be included. As for 'cutting up' your body, diet is the key there. Burning extraneous calories always helps, but diet is still #1. I'd just give it a try. If you start making progress in the area you desire, keep at it. If not, stop doing it.
