    Routines Galore.........

Hi everybody. Im new to weights and bodybuilding (6 months) and have been lurking here for several weeks now and I must say this is a great site with a wealth of info being shared by all. My only prior experience with weights was in high school while wrestling and playing football and that was
over 25 years ago. In my search for info I was lucky enough to find Tom Venuto's e-book and have been doing quite nicely on the diet program but in moving to the intermediate weight program (2 day split) with the 3 sets of 8-12 I have felt like something was missing. And now finding this site I have just read about half of Iron Mans section and his training program makes a lot of sense to me as well as the positive endorsements from this group. There is just so much information out there that for a newbie its hard to figure out what you realy should be doing. I mean I have Bill Pearls book Keys to the inner universe and his routines call for anywhere from 3 to 6 days a week of training with about 2 to 3 hours each session!WoW. I train with good intensity and after about an hour long session I am zonked. There is just no way I could maintain good form and focus for that duration. I have decided to do the Iron Man HIT program as it has the most ring of just plain common sense. I do have one question for the group? I have my garage set up as a small gym with this equipment; incline/flat bench with leg attatchment , seperate incline/decline bench with no BB rack, Multiple weighted DBs,
a 5 foot bar, easy curl bar, and 220# of assorted weights as well as a home made squat rack. Besides more weights and perhaps a real squat rack is there anything else you would suggest I purchase to preform Iron Mans HIT
program(such as an Olympic bar and weights)?

Thanks everybody and a very nice site.
P.S. My training partner is my 16 year old son andthis is a blast being able to spend time with him like this!

Quite honestly, you could become very strong without any specific equipment. All weight training is, is some kind of resistance against which your muscles can work. Any resistance will do. Don't worry about having the right equipment. Get creative with what you have and you'll be suprised at what you come up with and what your results will be. Heck, my squat rack is a pair of sawhorses, and I have no problem doing squats. Above all, have fun doing it! It's truly great that you get to do this while spending time with family.

I'm partial to Iron Man's Training. Been using it for 3 months now and my gains in both size and strength are better now then ever. I've used a lot of different training methods over the last 25 years and Iron Mans has done the best for me.

Give it a shot as it just might convience you that it is top notch.

You have all you need. Read this:

I would do something like this if I were you:

    Day A:
    Squats x 3
    Chinups x 3
    Leg Curls x 3
    Standing Overhead Press x 3
    Russian Twists x 3
    Supermans x 3

    Day B:
    Deadlifts x 3
    Bent Rows x 3
    Lunges x 3
    Bench Press x 3
    Reverse Hyperextensions x 3
    Leg Raises x 3

Just an example; pretty much follows my full body template.
