I had the same problem from my armpit to my inner bicep. I just slowed down. I dont want strech marks and I can handle slow gains over strech marks.
I've almost been 7 weeks working out and i've already got strect marks on my shoulder area (the side that faces towards your chest). Anyone know how common it is to get strecth marks, and can anyone recommend anything i can do to make them less visable?

If you gain muscle more quickly than your skin can adapt at that time, stretch marks appear due to the stretch in the skin (hence the name). Either do what zip said or stop being such a pansy and lift hard. Sorry, but I don't see the point in getting worried over something like stretch marks. Isn't that a little like a scientist getting worried about goggle impressions on his face? Just decide which is more important: grow more slowly or just get over it. I'm sure there are products that supposedly reduce their visibility, but whether they work and how much they cost I have no idea.

Also, it turns white eventually, trust me. If you want it to turn white then leave it to time, or go buy some cocoa butter lotion, it helps.

Agreed. If you want something even better look into the Vitamin E & Cocoa Butter combo Lotion. It works great.Originally Posted by WantItBad

Learn to love them and call them "Battle Scars," cause as long as you keep training and trying to get bigger, they will continue to show up more and more. My chest and lats look like they were scratched by malicious tigers!! Only when you stop adding on bodyweight will they begin to heal and will turn a more whitish color rather than red.

some people are just more susceptible to stretch marks, I hardly have any.
Thanks for the replies. I'll try some of the suggestions. Battle scars is a nice way to put it lol. I don't mind them much, it's just the colour that annoys me the most. I'm not even on any suppliments and i even do cardio 3 times a week and yet i still get them.
It does help to keep hydrated. This helps insure that your skin stays more elastic. Also, I have read that cocoa butter and vitamin E can help prevent them to some degree, although I have a feeling they are not totally preventable if you gain a lot of mass.
I have stretch marks in the same spot also, but they aren't bad at all.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

The front of the armpit and inner bicep is a bitch for most everyone, me included. I grew so much my first year of lifting back in 98, and since then my growth has been slower. I wish I knew about proper skin care back then. The best you can do it exfoliate the area with St. Ive's apricot scrub, glycolic acid, and hope for the best.
i think stretch marks are good signs of u knowing that ur getting bigger...i have some on my shoulders and on my V
I have used every skin cream in the book to try and take care of my stretch marks, and nothing helped. Thats when I just made friends with them and called them my BATTLE SCARS!
But then again, I went from a starting bodyweight of 125 and at one point hit 273. I am sure my skin had no clue what was coming to it, LOL.
