I understood most of it. Great video. It was good to see most of the west side technique in action compared to just reading it in articles.

I counted the rest interval to be on average about 1 minute and 10 seconds. These guys were also going really fast through the motions.
Have any of you vets ever benched this way? If you did, how were your gains?
My old football coach made us bench sort of like this when I was in high school, and I never made great gains back then, but that could have been due to a terrible diet.
I like this style of lifting, but it has been my understanding that slow steady movements with emphasis on the negative produces beast over all growth.
I am not saying this is right or wrong, but I have been hearing this a lot from people in the gym that have made impressive gains over the years.
I really wouldn't mind going back to the old way of lifting, because it was a lot more fun to do.
I would really like to get feedback from you more knowledgeable folks on this matter.

Actually, I am in my Database Design class right now, so I can't turn on sound, so I will just have to watch it at home to get a better idea of what is going on. I watched the whole video, and I never really saw where they were ever doing negatives. But since they lifting for power, all of their movements are going to be explosive. I still want try it.

you can use the "dynamic effort" as zatsiorsky talks about for any of the main lifts (bench, squat, deadlift, snatch, clean and jerk)......I train that way. It has to be intergrated into the strength program. Simply doing just that wont get you dick. You have to have the max effort work and repetitive effort work to make the program go where you want it to go.

No, this type of stuff has nothing to do with growth or muscle hypertrophy.
