    Bought a new belt

I've always used a wide Valeo belt for lifting but now that I've been doing heavy squats and deadlifts I realize that it's not gonna cut it.

So I bought a powerlifting belt and ooooh what a difference. It doesn't give at all.

For all the newbies a good belt is worth it if you're gonna lift heavy.

What brand did you get? I got an Inzer lever-action belt years ago and LOVE it to death.

Truthfully I don't know what brand it is. I bought it from a friend that owns a supplement store.
Actually the guy is Anthony Clarks brother. He also does powerlifting and it's the brand he uses.

Anyway, cool. You can't beat a good, heavy belt. I like my lever action cuz it's easy to unlock when your done with a set and are about to collapse.

Must be the same one I have. One word of caution. I've pinched myself where the ends overlap. Watch out for this!!

Kinda hard not to use a belt on heavy squats and deadlifts.

Fade, I haven't used a belt in YEARS! I think I lift kinda heavy. I think you have seen my leg workout.

    Bench: 315 x 6
Squat: 405 x 6 (and this will be way up over the next month)
Deads: I did them today for the first time and plan on working real heavy in the coming months. Today I did 315 x 6 but I should be in the 450 range in 5 or 6 weeks.

What's your waist size? Maybe it's irrelevant but I noticed some of the guys with larger waist support more weight belt free.

Oh yeah, normally if I can do over 5reps with a weight I don't use a belt.

    Never used one on bench.
I can deadlift 315 for 10-12reps without a belt but I need one for my 3 sets of singles.
I've been squating for about 3 months now and so far 435 is my max and I have to use a belt but not for 315.

I think if your abdominal muscles are strong and your lower back is too I dont see the use. But to each their own.

    ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT!!!

Just kidding....well I never heard of the correlation but right now I am a 36" -- soon to go down to about 33 with my diet staring this week.

Ya know, I see your point for singles. I never do them. I consider myself more of a bodybuilder than powerlifter, though when my shoulder are good I do a single bench once and a while cuz I can't resist!

This morning I squated 405 x 6. If I went much heavier I would want some support.

    But in a few weeks I'll hopefully be doing 455 x 6 (w/o a belt).

I'm at 31" and my knees are small so I need support.

Last night I went up 70lbs to 475 by using the new belt and knee wraps.

Yeah I used to use wraps also (bad knees), but I find they are more of a pain in the a$$ then anything else.

    That is some increase!!! Nice.
