I'm not really a newbie, I've been on a couple times before, just haven't had the time due to Boot camp and schooling, anyway here is my predicament I had recently lost weight from 210 down to 145, now since boot camp and everything I've gone up another 35 lbs. which leaves me at 180, the thing is I've always had this flabby midsection, everything I've tried doesn't help get rid of it, hell I'm at the point where I don't care about a six pack, but rather just have a flat stomache. by the way if it helps I'm 5'8'', if anyone out there has any advice on what I need to do please please please help me out, even at my skinniest (which is why I'm glad I gained some weight back, seein that I looked sickly, it's almost as bad as being overweight) I had this flab around my midsection,I couls pinch about a inch and a half when I was skinny, now I can pinch about another inch not to mention the lower back fat I've gained,ugggh, so any diet advice or work outs I would much appreciate it, If you need more info please let me know,late.
during boot you should have done plenty of leg raises enough to define the lower abs. at least that was the case for me if you still have a gut u meed to take a good look at your diet. I lost weight during boot camp muscle and fat
sound liek u went down in weight to fast and have skin left over, gotta have a doc operate if thats the case

First, doing ab exercises won't get your abs to show; it's all about reducing your bodyfat % through diet. Second, there is no distinction between upper and lower abs.
Yeah I lost alot of weight during Boot camp, both muscle and fat, this was mainly due to starvation I only ate three meals a day, plus the food we ate wasn't that "healthy" and also they worked our asses off constantly, when I graduated I was really skinny, something I did not like at all, it was almost as bad as being overweight. During my schooling I gained another 20 lbs. in 2 months, I tried working out as much as possible but never had much time, so now that I'm out of that I have more time to focus on my diet and exercise routine, I'm just not sure where to start, currently I'm taking in around 2500 calories, before the military I consumed around 2000 (which I guess was a little low) during school I gradually upped it to 3300-3500, now I'm at 2500-2600, I'm trying to add more healthy lean protein into my diet, along with fiber, "good" carbs, and plenty of H2O and diet green tea. I gonna take up weight training again, but I'm not sure if I should add cardio along with it, or if I should cut my caloric intake, or both;I'm weary to do both because that's how I became really thin in the first place, and throughout all of this weight fluctuation I've had this pudge around my midsection, not sure if it's stubborn fat or loose skin ,so I'm sorta lost,any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cutting calories is very effective - just make sure you're eating the right foods. Eat things that are highly nutritious and if you happen to get thinner than you want, consume more calories. Keep it simple. Remember that everything is in your control, basically. You control the outcome of this so go ahead and experiment. The worst that could happen is that a method won't work.

Read the stickies in here and in the diet section. Put together a resistance training routine that you perform 2-3 days per week, and possibly supplement that with cardio another couple days each week. Then, whip up a diet based on the sticky in the diet section. Post your training routine and diet plan that you devise in their respective sections, and we will take a look.

hey bite, im in the EXAcT same place u are, i was fat, got skinny, people wuold say i look anorexic, but always had flabby belly.
So i built muscle, still fllabby belly, but had a 2 pack. So currently im cutting, I reduced a godo amount of calories, kept the same workout. and eating heelllllla clean, i can see that im cutting fat becuz now i have a 4 pack, and im getting cut overall. so I Say built a good amoutn of muscle, forget about the flab, then cut down slowly .
So what I should do is gain more muscle by doing weight training and eating a clean diet, instead of tryin to lose this flab around my midsection, will gaining muscle make it less noticedable or will it eventually go away? Should I even consider cardio, and if yes should it be long duration or just high intensity? Also on the question of my body fat it was around 14 % before most of it from my midsection, now its around 18 as before mainly from midsection, but also gained some in chest and lower back. Anyway I appreciate all this feedback, if you have anymore info or advice, I'd appreciate it,late.
