Unhappy You still train if you dont sleep long?

I am talking about no more than 7 hours no less than 5.5. Do you still get up and go to the gym?

Ive done it before and some days are good while other days I workout, the workout sucks. Either way though, the rest of the day I am exhausted. Kinda sucks.

So, would you rather sleep in if you tossed all night? Or suck it up?

Just how important is sleep at times like this..

Bench 365 (12/3)
Weighted Pullups 80lbs 3x3 (3/19)
Squat 370
Deadlift after herniation 385lbs 3x3 (3/17)

Hell yeah! If I didn't I would never train!!!
Sleep is important for sure and I definately could do with more but I'd still suck it up and train... and try to take naps where possible. I know everyone says who has time for naps but you'd be suprised at how and when you can sneak in 20 mins here and there if you really try.

I usually train in the afternoon and night, but even so, I often have to make do working out with only 5-6 hours of sleep the night before. A quick nap if you can fit one in helps me out when needed.

Yup. I still train. I shoot for 7 hours, but I end up getting 6 more than I would like. I just try to make up for it with a few naps during the week and hopefully at least one day to sleep in on the weekend.

I've never gotten that much sleep, and i find that even if before a work out i feel half-dead, if i push myself to at least work out a bit i'll feel wide awake afterwards.

I do get the odd crap workout though, if you really dont think you can handle a whole work out, tone it down a bit. Have a back up routine that doesnt take as long to do, like 3/4 or 1/2 the time of your usual routine.

At least youre getting something done.

Yes, I train without adequate sleep too. Usually hit the hay around 10:00 p.m., wake up at 3:45 a.m. and then drive to work. Weekdays, I work out after work. I eat my pre workout meal on the way from work. I get to the fitness center around 3:30 p.m. and put in 60-90 minutes.

Weekends, I always get at least 8 hours of sleep each night. I train on both days.

Depends how I feel. I just picked up some melatonin though to help me out. If I'm getting dragged down through the week my workouts really suffer in a way that ephedrine just can't help.

Eh, so do you sleep 13 hours? I would like to have 8 hours in bed preferably, which would work out to 7-7.5 hours of sleep, hopefully.

just for the record. Skip La Cour won Mr. Team Olympia 2 years in a row. He has won many other competitions and between him and jeff willet they are the biggest and best "natural" bodybuilders around. He only sleeps 6 hours a night. Goes to bed at 10 and sleeps till 4 and goes the the gym by 5.

Here are his view on sleep and muscle growth.

Wish I got more but half the time it's only about 5 or so. I get up at 4am to get my first meal and sups in then to gym by 5 for 1st workout. I do a second cardio in in the afternoon. I am also a massage therapist so I sometimes feel like I am training all day ( I do deep tissue work). I try to nap when I can as well. I just don't like to miss a workout..LOL

Usually, no I've been really picky about my sleeping habbits lately. these past couple weeks, I've been getting 11-12 hours of sleep a night just because school is finally giving me a "break" so to speak. Any less than 10 hours, and I wouldn't train.
