I concur. As long as I can get stronger without getting bigger I don't care. I might add a little mass in an effort to speed up this goal, but I'm not too pressed about it.

but you guys cant get much stronger without getting bigger can you? especially if you've been working out for a long time - so surely it is within your goals to add some weight. or am i way off here?

I can train specifically for strength and get stronger without getting bigger, yes. However, some hypertrophy will help me get stronger as the bigger muscle has more potential to apply higher amounts of force.

I typically like to stay around a certain area of weight (170-180 range) so that I can just diet for a few weeks and drop water to compete as a 77kg lifter (169lbs). So, that 10lb range gives me some room to work with. If I feel that I can't get any stronger at that weight I will probably try and put on some size and compete in a heavier weight class).

But, I don't specifically train for hypertrophy (ie, performing higher amounts of mechanical/metabolic work). So, if grow happens it is purely on accident and totally a product of my diet.

I am at 180 even as of this morning, but not all that is muscle. I would like to get to 195 ripped in the end, don't know how long that will take. I think 195 would be great for my height, but for some reason I keep thinking once I'm there I'll want to be bigger or at least over 200.

im 172 at a tad under 10 percent. id like to be 180 at 9 percent even by the end of the year and an even 200 at 9-10 percent overall. I started at 155 june of last year, dropped to 150 and climbed straight. it takes time when you're not doing traditional bulk/cut w/ training being what it should be.

I think no matter how big I get I will always want 5-10 more pounds. I remember when I desperately wanted to weigh 150, and that seemed big to me. Now I am around 195 and I want to be at 205.

I wish to get to 145 then cut to 140 then strait up to 160. My eventual goal is 175 5-6% body fat then go from there.
