Is this good for hypertrophy?

What do you think about this for gaining more muscles (hypertrophy)?

- warm sets
- 6-8 reps (use so much weight that i will not be able to do one more rep than 8)
- 4-6
- 2-4
- 1-2
- Burnout with lower weights for 10-15 reps and finish with a superset to failure

Some friends of mine say that this is for gaining strenght, not muscle (hypertrophy). What do you think?

thanks

A pyramid can work reasonably well for both. Of course, I don't recommend going above 90% intensity all the time on every exercise unless your volume is incredibly low, and even then I think there are superior ways of training.

cowpimp, i am just starting and my volume is incredibly low, lol. Can you explain better what kind of things would you suggest when you say (2there are superior ways of training"?

internal, you speak in 2 routines (i think thats what you say..may english is not quiet good so i am not sure about this)? If yes which is the second one (being mine* the 1st one)?

Need more inut on this subject.

check out the stickies at the top of the page by P-funk and you'll see what CP means by superior training methods.

By superior methods I mean periodizaiton. I don't think going balls to the wall with intensity all the time on all exercises is going to give you the best results.

I agree. If I am training for hypertrophy it is rare that I go under 5 or 6 reps in a set.

Indeed. Pyramids are a perfectly acceptable loading scheme, but you should start lower on the intensity scheme and work your way up from there:

10-12
8-10
6-8
4-6

Or something like that...
