How to achieve a killer peak to you bicep!

This is an exercise mainly for those who have been training for a while now and have made progress with their biceps but would like to achieve more of a mountain peak to their tommy guns.

    1) Your position should be that of executing a standing barbell curl. However this time you should use a weight that is quite moderate (10kilo plate each side). Remember this is'nt a muscle builder, its a muscle shaper...you dont need to go heavy. Its all about the execution and concentration of the mind>muscle connection.
    2) Start with the barbell resting against your upper thighs (palms facing outwards). Now slowly roll the barbell up your body making sure that the barbell is in touch with your body all the way up until you feel the bicep flex. Hold it for 2 secs then down the same way by folling it down your body. You'll find that you get the flex in your bicep when the barbell reaches the top of your abs!
    3) Do 3 sets of 10 controlled reps. Remember execution is everything in this exercise.

Use it...let me know how it goes....

    Konan.

ummm, since when can you change the shape of your muscles? I'm pretty sure they stay the same shape they can just get bigger or smaller.

I remember reading an 'article' on this in an old flex mag. Some people believe that doing conc. curl works the peak but bar curl works the whole muscle.

It's a nice idea but I think the key to shape is already determined by genetics and hard work.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Everyone has different shaped muscles. What i mean by changing the shape of the bicep is by shaping the peak at the top of the bicep. This gives the bicep an overall bigger look! But obviously you must have thought that i meant changing your muscles to triangle shapes...or maybe an oblong shape....

Good Luck in your training fella!!

Great thread, we need more like it to help us isolate our biceps peek and hit the upper inner chest.

If your doing the motion i have described earlier in executing this exercise then you will feel the head of the bicep being targeted. Ofcourse genetics plays an important role...thats why this exercise is aimed at those who are slightly more advanced in their training and have a shape to their bicep already! Try it!

Cheers for the feedback fella! Its an exercise which i have used successfully in the first 2-3 years of my training. You can read alot more abt my stats in the introduction forum titled "I Am Konan..." but to tell you of my results in 7 years of training i've gone from 14.5 inch biceps to 19 inches dead!

    Have a good workout!

btw just b/c ONE person does something and also has big arms, that by no means implies a direct correlation. Lets think about this exercise he suggests from a biomechanical perspective. Where is the tension on the bis besides possibly at the top of this retarded movement. Just claiming that a movement is something means very little coming from a guy who thinks that a muscle can be shaped and that you can just train for a peak. that is just absolutely NOT true. to have a great peak you simply must hope once you fully develop your bicep muscle its in your genetics to have a great peak. some guys have a peak with no training, and others train for years and still don't have an impressive peak. Does that mean that man B didn't train correctly for a peak or does it mean that you can increase the size of a muscle, but you can never change a specific shape to a muscle to look different. Gentlemen lets let logic and reasoning have its moment please.

... no he says this because you can't target different areas of a muscle. When a muscle contracts... it contracts. You can't change the way it contracts to target the peak.

Konan, what you are saying is rediculous.

The curl he's refering to is known as a "Drag Curl"

Vince Gironda was using this decades ago. If you don't know who that is....then you truly do not know bodybuilding.

KONAN - the shape of one's bicep is predetermined by their genetics, if you have the genetics to obtain a peak on your bicep than it will happen simply by training the bicep and making it grow. If one does not posses the genetics for a peak on their bicep there is NO method of training that will build one.
