    brain...improvement.

This may be a stupid question, but I see some of you guys are really into health and have good knowledge of health and stuff... Im a high school student with bad grades. Not that i dont try. I honestly put a lot of efforts into my work, but my brain is so clouded cant even focus properly. So i try extra hard but i still do bad....
Sorry if this sound stupid...but is there a way to make one's memory or improve or make it think quicklier or anything...
    Thanks.

P.S: I tried sex, it didnt fix it properly.

Try some caffiene see how it works. Stimulants can cause people to focus better. I study really well on ephedrine, or a lot of coffee. ADHD drugs are stimulants and some people really benefit. You may be one.

Also you probably need a lot more sex. A little just distracts me into thinking about getting more.

i suffered that problem two years ago thats nt due to stuoidity,, thas because ur mind is awy from concentration .. i overcomed that problem by think in one thing only nt in study in itself but i gave all my concentration to be the best nt only in study but also in bb ... so only concentrate to be the best and subconsciously ur mind will follow ur will .. try that

Apparently you didnt concentrate hard enough in english class...

Focusing on being the best will only set you up for disappointment. Trying your best is a different story.

Remove distractions. If you have a tv where your studying remove the cable cord and give it to someone (mom /dad) to hold on to until youre done. Pick 1 cd or radio station and quit fiddling, shut off the computer. Go to the library, coffee shop, someplace there is nothing to fool around with.

If you put on honest effort in, and practice good study habits(4hours+ a day), and still cant focus, Get some more pussy. Then go see your doctor, there maybe a chemical/emotional issue.

Honestly, you should consider looking more closely at what you eat. Deficincies in vitamins, minerals, certain types of fats, or various other nutrients can cause cognitive impairment on some level. Also, excercise has been proven to increase cognitive function.

You should take a look at what you are feeding your brain... Brain clarity comes with good nutrition. Do you drink protein shakes at all>? If not. I would start.. and make sure it is from a good source to get the full benefit.. My son was like this. and we added a great product for him to his diet.. and he has totally excelled in school now.. Feed the Brain to get Great outcome of the Body...

Currently, I cut my amount to eat in about half. In the morning i basically just eat bread with a cup of hot milk with sugar in it. Thats basically it, at lunch i eat a juice and a sandwich. and i go working out after school at 3:30 and work out until about 5. Then i walk home, and once at home i just eat some thing healthy.

in class i pay attention, atleast i try to. And your right i do get distracted pretty fast.... I'll start buying protein shakes started today when i leave for shopping. But school is pretty hard for me, when i badly hate school to its edge.
My current subjects are. Math(Advanced), Physics, Biology, Multimedia.
I'll start putting my mind in to it......what kind of food do you guys recommend is really good... I read in a magazine in my gym today that blueberry really helps your brain and im going to buy them today...i wish i knew what else was good.

Have you tried getting more sleep? I wake up at an ungodly time and it's completely ridiculous. Why should I get up at 5:30 when I'm at an age that requires more sleep than any other? When it takes me longer to fall asleep and longer for my brain to start fully functioning than at any other age? When I have school, a job and a social life to worry about, as compared to other age groups who don't have all three? How about the fact that teenagers are supposed to act like adults, be treated like kids and put under more peer pressure than any other age group? Doesn't that deserve some extra sleep at the very least? I think so. I know I don't get enough sleep and it's a terrible feeling. You'd be surprised what just good sleep can do.

    I hate you.

Also make sure the quality of your sleep is high - quality>quantity really. Do you wake up feeling like you need more sleep (or do you still feel that way after five minutes or so?) or do you feel completely awake and like you really don't have to sleep any longer?

Along with what CP said, consider taking a multivitamin, which can help certain deficiencies.

Something else that you could try for the school thing.. Omega3's or Salmon Oils are awesome for brain chemistry. that is something you can't get out of a protein shake.. you would have to buy them separately...
When my son was taking supplements.. he took in one whole day:
    Omega3 1200 mg per day
    Zinc/Magnesium/Calcium
    Evening Primrose Oil
    Ginko
protein shakes loaded with fruits, yogart, hemp seeds, and ice cubes.
Just a thought that you could do for yourself at school.. My son was medicated for his adhd .. and I totally regret doing that now... We are holding him now with pure nutrition.. and it is awesome. He feels great. and is doing really really well in school..
Good Luck with all of this... You can do what ever you set your mind to..

High School sucks, Maybe you are suffering from depression. lack of concentration is a symptom. You are young and school don't last forever. so don't pressure yourself if grades arent the greatest. just give it your best shot.
There is like a gazillion therapys available that may actually help. Get off sugar and caffeine drink more water.
But I would suggest a doctors visit to check you out physically first. Exercise and diet do help stimulate bloodflow to the brain and energize the body. Ginko biloba, st johns wort, acetyl l carnitine, vitamin b6 are just a few dietary supps that some people swear by. Get a blood workup. At least you will help eliminate some possibilities.

I have the same problems. I am awful at paying attention. In high school I would just sit there and everything would kind of drone on and I would hear none of it. The only time I am really focused if it is stuff that I am interested in. Like I can read studies on training or things from books and be pretty photographic as far as my memory is concerend. I can recal things almost word for word. But, if it is a subject matter that I have no interest in then my mind wanders and I can't remeber anything. I have a hard time paying attention but if you can get me to pay attention I can remeber everything.

Pump in the Essential fatty acids then.. Really they do work.. My son is living proof of them. He did get brain clarity.. and he did do well in school on the supplements when he was on them full time. The Omega 3 is good for alot of things... Evening primrose oil as well works great for many issues in brain chemistry.
My kids take a vitamin drink now filled with many nutrients... it is very powerful.. 1 to 2 ounces is total for even an adult in a day... Very good juice.. Protein is great for the body and mind.. no doubt about that.. But the essentials is what we all lack in mostly...

P-Funk, Im having the same problem. Exactly the same. In programming class, I didnt even have to pay attention, the stuff was just so easy and understandable thats because i actually liked that class. Now that class is over, i miss it. I was slacking in physics class because of the same situation. One day my teacher yelled at me really bad and told me to drop the class cause i was doing so bad. And in the next week i was starting to do so well...that class just gave me the shivers, I set aside my other subjects and got that done. Now im slowly going back to my old self.

Well, lately, I almost got kicked out my house. Me and my dad have massive amounts of fights basically over anything. He always starts bullying me and just by telling him off he starts the beating and crap.

I went shopping and i bought some salmon, vegetable juice, and some other nutriution food i found. But I looked everywhere for those god damn protein shakes. i couldnt find it so i came home.

Last time i got laid was. Last night. Lmao and im not even kidding.

There are plenty out there online though...
Good Luck with what you have going... your doing fine... Get those essential fatty acids in yah.. and clear up that brain clarity.. and school will be easier for you...

Honestly, I suck at paying attention too. Actually, I can listen to lectures just fine for the most part. There are always exceptions, like during classes where the professor speaks with a monotone voice, but for the most part I can deal with lectures. The textbooks are often written in such a boring manner as to leave me completely distracted thinking about whatever else I can while I read them. Not everyone can pay attention perfectly. Just keep trying and make concious efforts to not let yourself get distracted.

yea i suck as paying attention too, unless its something i enjoy. in my case i love all sciences and i'm taking all science classes so its pretty easy for me to pay attention except that my teacher is a moron and doesn't even know anything about anatomy/physiology (her degree is in education) and mispronounces every anatomical term there is.

also according to her, your epiphyseal plates seal when you are 9 years old i guess we should all be like 3 feet tall.

    Ginko, and caffeine maybe.

potassium also helps brain function, along with phospha-serine, or sumthing like that.

When i was posting this thread. I thought everyone would laugh but it actually turned out to be a really good thread hehe.

How is your weather by the way.. I hear you have had a down fall of some serious snow..??

    Drive/Walk safely... hehe
Actually the weather sucks. We are so full of snow. There is no sidewalks and i walk home for 45 minutes everyday. The buses travel at speed of a running baby and not many cars can get out of their own parking lots. The roads are also really slippery. Sometimes it windy and sometimes its just snowy. Basically it sucks, and it started to snow right when spring starts. haha.

yea i suck as paying attention too, unless its something i enjoy. in my case i love all sciences and i'm taking all science classes
I have the same problem. My interest is more into computer programming and physics. I personally love physics, I had an average of %89 in grade 10 physics, now in grade 11, my teacher is nothing but a moron. Instead of helping us learn with our homeworks he testes us on it. And hell its like he is teaching himself.

potassium also helps brain function, along with phospha-serine, or sumthing like that.
Ya, your right. I bought some vegetable juice, it has about 560g of potassium. Its really good....except the juice is hard to drink cause of its taste and smell.

There are exercises for the mind just as there are for the body. Google it. You can find some interesting things.
Thanks I'll look into that right now.
