    thigh sweep

i've got pretty good quad development around my knee area. i'd really like to improve my outer sweep.

is this primarily one of those genetic things that depends on where your muscles attach or are there certain things you can do to isolate that outer quad area more?

i think i've heard both - you can isolate and focus and you can't.

anyone had any success with bringing up an outer thigh sweep when it wasn't a strong area? what works best?

    thanks!

I have a pretty good sweep and people used to always ask me how I developed it.

It's just the shape of my muscle, purely genetic. I never did anything different then the next guy for leg development.

i think you're probably right. i've had people ask me how i got my quad development around my knee the way it is and it just is that way. of course i'd trade that for sweep in a minute. grass is always greener i guess.

maybe increasing overall quad development will help a bit. thanks

You cannot create a thigh sweep just as you cannot create a biceps peak, you either have that shape of muscle or you don't.

If you look at my leg pics you will see that my quads are quite narrow by the knee, thus emphasizing the sweep. Yes, squats are going to build your quads, but they will not re-shape them.

While the shape of your muscles is largely genetic, there are still things that can be done to give the appearence of a slightly altered shape...especially when talking about the sweep of the quads.

What you need to do is bring up the size of the vastus lateralis muscle on the side of the thigh. Fully developed, this can give you more "thigh sweep."

What you must do is use a narrow stance while squatting, leg pressing, and hack squatting. During leg extensions you must turn your toes inward at the peak contraction.

Try a superset of leg extensions and hacks or leg presses in the manner I described and you will fry the sides of your thighs!

Try it and let me know!

hurts to think about! good advice. i haven't done supersets for legs in ages. probably b/c they KILL and that makes me realize it's exactly what i need to be doing.

hardly ever done hacks. need to add those to the mix. and i usually do go wider with leg press and squats. i'll bring the stance in and superset. thanks for good advice.

i believe the muscle shape thing and doubt i'll ever have great remarkable sweep but i know i can get it better.

Just make your legs bigger and reduce bodyfat so detail becomes more evident.

Work with the info I gave you, and use it consistently...over time, you will see an improvement in "thigh sweep." Best of luck!
