Military Press
Are there any good exercises that work both the lateral and posterior delts that are done with a barbell?

"Your greatest challenge isn't another person. Its the burning in your lungs and the burning in your legs, its the voice in your head screaming STOP you cant do anymore. But you dont listen. You push harder and you start to hear a the whisper of YOU CAN. You realize you are not the person you thought you were is no match for the person you are."

I don't think you can specifically target the rear delts with a barbell, but they do get hit a lot during rowing movements, such as bent barbell rows.
military presses only work the anterior deltsOriginally Posted by WantItBad
how is it false? its true it just works the front delts not the median or rear delts.

that is not true at all. The nature of the overhead press moves the shoulder through flexion (depending on your grip with this could be more or less) and then abduction, which recruits the medial delt. The rear delts are being used to staballize the shoulder complex as well as decelerate the bar as it nears the end ROM.

alright so what exercises are u talking about. What variation of the military press should i do to work the median and rear delts?
just regular overhead presses and do some direct rear delt work to work the muscles through an active ROM.Originally Posted by GoLdeN M 07
