Stick With Westside or Switch to P/RR/S?
Obviously everyone on this forum swears by P/RR/S, and I don't doubt its effectiveness. But Westside is so tried and true, and my progress on it has always been nothing shot of awesome. Its just that part of me anymore is a little tired of all the lower back stress all of the time. In reality its just lower back work constantly, all the time.
Chances are I'm never going to do a powerlifting meet, or a bodybuilding competition. So my training is strictly as a hobby, and strictly for fun. I've been off an on Westside for about 3 months now. Never actually taken a real break from it, though. And the P/RR/S workouts look a lot more fun lately than my Westside workouts. What do you guys think?

Westside is more strength oriented, and P/RR/S is more oriented for hypertrophy, the whole point of the latter is to provide changing stimulation to avoid adapation to increase muscle mass.

Since I am the creator of PRRS I figured I would chime in...
Listen, if Westside has been providing the results that you are looking for, than why switch? Ever hear the saying, "Don't fix it if it ain't broke." However, if you are mentally getting bored, or if you are starting to feel some overuse injuries coming about, then make a switch for a little while and go back to Westside. Maybe you will find PRRS to be superior for you, or maybe you won't, but if you don't try, you will never know. But like I said at first, if Westside is doing for you exactly what you want, then maybe you just need a week off from the gym, and then you can hop right back to where you were.

As a side note, I have used P-RR-S before. I did gain an appreciable amount of mass and strength on the program. However, conjugate periodization seems to work better for myself as well; it works quite well for mass gains too if I eat enough. Nonetheless, P-RR-S was certainly an effective and fun program. It didn't really get boring because it felt like I was always doing something different, but the fact that I repeated workouts every 3 weeks made progress trackable. I say give it a shot. I'm pretty damned sure you'll enjoy it and make gains.
