the only difference between hacks and deads would be that u just put the bar behind or legs but its the same form as a dead. hacks work the quads so much more.

![]() The movement might look similar if you're using a BB (except how you mentioned a hack squat is behind you), but it's hardly the same thing. In a deadlift, you're primarily pulling (lower back and hamstrings mostly) in a hack squat, you're pushing (mostly with quads). |

He's right..... quads aren't even the primary muscle used in a deadlift
Deadlifts provide a much better workout... they hit the entire back, lats, hamstrings, glutes, and quads Hack squats are on a track placing a lot of stress on your knees, and work mainly the quads and hit a bit of the hamstrings most people dont even do hack squats... stick with the deadlifts |

ok u guys are right i guess. hacks do a much better job in working the quads but i guess i feel a lil stress on my knees. the conventional deadlift is the only dl that works the hams and quads and almost the entire back. The lats arent worked as much as the traps and lower back.
And i have a whole new question. Wat are ur opinions on explosive exercises like cleans and snatches. Are they better or the same , or worst in building strength. |

Out of curiousity, have any of you tried the original hack squat? Not the machine, i mean the barbell behind your back style squat? It is f**king hard. I agree it's a bit different from a deadlift, but i've tried them before and was just wondering if anyone ever uses them.

Deadlifts without question. I'm not a big fan of hack squats. I certainly feel my quads big time when I do them, but they don't feel natural. Even before I learned all the advantages to performing freeweight exercises I have always preferred them. I don't like restricted ranges of motion.

good for building strength and fun to implement into a program IMO.
