Deadlifts with Dumbells???
Okay...I am limited by the equipment that I own. I don't have an Olympic/Barbell bar that you would use for Bench Press or Deadlifting. So, I have tried using my DB's for deadlift, and it seems to work okay. Should I keep using these, or should I drop them from my routine until I get a Barbell???
Thanks! |

do you have any plates at all? I have a couple of slip collar dumbells with an assortment of standard plates. A standard bar is cheap like 10-15 dollars.
You'd probably grow past the dumbells rather quick. Every couple months i need to get a couple more 35 plates |

It is better than nothing, but it would be optimal to either invest in better equipment or just simply join a gym. You can get a 300lb olympic set for relatively cheap, around or less than $100.

I know that the Olympic bar would be ideal, I just wanted to know if it was OK to use DB's until I can get an Olympic set! Thanks for the responses! |

There's nothing wrong with a dumbbell deadlift in my opinion. It's still a great movement, although I think investing in a barbell at some point would probably be a good idea. However, you can make great gains with just dumbbells, and you will probably have some bitchin' grip strength to boot.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
