Upright rows
What r ur opinions on upright rows? R they better then many barbell exercises that work the lateral delts? (sorry ive bin posting so much about lateral shoulder exercises. i just need to find the best one with a barbell for my working plan.)

probably one of the worst exercises for the shoulder.....
abduction, extension and external rotation all happening in one movement with a good amount of load. I am not a fan of this exercise. Especially for people with shoulder problems.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

is this a trick question? I said why they were bad and you quoted it. if they don't bother you then do them.

i think the only lateral shoulder exercise with a barbell is upright rows, I like doing them narrow grip but you should try doing them wide grip, its a good exercise IMO

Kills my shoulders, I wont do them with more than 85 pounds if I do them at all - and sloooooowly at that. As long as I target the traps and not the shoulders I can do these very light (you'd have to get a feel for what I'm talking about here).
You may enjoy them now, but if and when you hurt your shoulders maybe you will finally get to feel it firsthand.

I don't do any work for my lateral delts specifically. A healthy dose of overhead pressing seems to take care of that for me.

Upright rows... nice way to hit your traps and biceps; shoulders on the other hand...

honestly, at 5'8" and 140lbs the last thing you need to worry about is "isolating" your medial deltoids. You need to just put size on your frame. Start doing more overhead pressing and work on compound movements.

Yeah, I dont understand some of this shit. When I FIRST started working out, I was 6' 143lbs. All I did was eat and lift. It was horrible, but I just kept doing it. I didnt have this forum back then and it is nice that theres so much info to be learned, but I think some kids are thinking about things too much. Keep it simple. Some of these heavy compound workouts are staples or should be staples in experienced lifters' workouts. Its all there for a reason.
