Cardio question
Hello, I have a question regarding cardio timing...
This may be a silly question, but is there a difference in fat loss if one were to run in the morning, as compared to the evening? Testosterone levels and cortisol levels are highest in the morning, and lowest in the evening.... would it be worth it to plan cardio at one of those two times? |

I'm going to argue that there is not really a difference, or it is not worth picking a time you don't prefer because the difference is minimal. If you are performing interval training or some sort of higher intensity activity, then you will probably burn more calories overall by performing the activity in the morning. This way your metabolism stays boosted for many hours after the workout, and this boost isn't blunted when you goto sleep as it would be if you trained in the evening. However, it does appear, based on studies I've read, that your metabolism does say somewhat elevated even when you sleep if you train in the evening.
In the end, I think it's more important to pick a time that you won't end up shirking than it is to worry about this kind of stuff.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

Interesting how the metabolism can be boosted during sleep through nighttime exercise, but yes I would have to agree as well that it most likely doesn't madder (at least for a signifigant difference).
Morning cardio is a great start to the day as well. Thanks for the reply |
