How much cardio for cutting?
I'm looking to start a new diet which I'm working on at the moment and add cardio to my strength training routine. How much cardio is good for maximum fat loss?

I do light cardio for like 45 mins two days a week. It is not the fastest way to lose weight but i seem to be gaining muscle mass while losing bf% really slowly. Don't expect it to happen overnight though, Last time i checked my bf i was 17% and i checked it around 2 months later (actually yesterday) and it said 15%.
Like i said before it is a slow slow progress and many don't have the patience for it but i don't seem to be losing any muscle doing it and i am satisfied with it. I'm kind of a mesa-endomorph though. I seem to gain muslce very easily but i have a hard time losing fat. If your matobolism is faster then mine (which it probably is) you would probably lose fat faster. I could be wrong though but i was told that light cardio is better than fast cardio if you wanna keep your muscle. I have been only weight lifting for 2 and a half months now so probably one of the more experienced guys can help. All i know is light cardio seems to be working for me. |

There is no exact amount of cardio that is necessary for fat loss. You really don't have to do any at all. You should focus more on your diet. Get in a daily caloric deficit of about 500 calories, and when weight loss slows down you can slowly add in some cardio.
I generally perform cardio 2-3 days per week for health and conditioning reasons regardless of my body composition goals at the time. I just change my caloric intake when I need to alter body composition.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...
