    Ice after lifting

I have read in numerous places that icing the body part worked after lifting can promote a faster healing process.

Do any of you practice this? Does it really work? And would it be effective after every workout for an extended period of time?

I will be going on cycle soon, and I want to get the best out of my workouts, and I want to be able to jump right back into the gym.

I've never done it personally but I know the main stars in the Matrix used to have a quick ice bath because their bodies and muscles were so beaten after their sessions.
I love it when a plan comes together.

I had a bad rotator cuff injury last year, I iced along with ibuprofen and the recovery was amazing, this was after months of suffering the injury.
Even now when ive trained shoulders and they ache ice does the trick, I dont know if it accelerates recovery but its lookin good from my experience...

I have read this as well. It seems to be supported due to its anti-inflammation properties. Also, to facilitate increased bloodflow, you can follow up the ice treatment with a heat treatment. This might actually increase inflammation briefly, but is espoused as beneficial nonetheless.

Contrast showers are supposed to serve a similar purpose.

I read about contrast showers being popular in europe around a decade ago.

Some athletes (large and small) take a dip into a very cold bath after sessions.

contrast baths/showers have been used for hundreds of years as a general tonic. the guy who is documented as first using this therapy would use it on his work and farm animals.

On my calfs and thighs. It really seems to help them. Put baby oil on your skin then get a block of ice then massage in circles on the sore muscle for 5-10 mins.
