I think he has the right to use it, it is a political symbol. The same way anyone has the right to use a picture of the republican elephant. Not saying I agree or associate myself with the Nazi party.

Without getting into a debate, there is a difference between the swastika and the elephant. Irrelevant of what the swistika used to mean, now it is associated with the Nazis.

Jokes aside, the republicans aren't evil but the Nazis were.

There's is a difference between freedom of speech and accepting/allowing racism etc.... It is fine for us to criticise the government (freedom of speech) but acts such as showing images of offense, eg KKK symbols and the swastika, is different. By having a swastika it implies that he is in, or supports the nazi party.

On your basis, it would be fine for everyone in this board to say that they hate blacks, death to whites, kill all muslims.

Next time, think of a coherent argument instead of insulting members of this board. It's ironic that the 1 person strongly supporting the guy's choice is the only one being offensive and derogatory in his post.

There is no difference. KKK members are allowed to protest in public still, and so are neo-nazis. I wouldn't display that symbol myself, but I respect his right to do so. You don't get to decide where the line is drawn for free speech.

Also, you can say that you hate blacks, etc. In fact, people say it all the time on these boards. Look through some posts in open chat. It won't take you long to find a racist topic with plenty of offensive material.

See, that's the beauty of free speech, you have to deal with it whether or not you like it/agree with it/find it offensive.

The Nazi party wasn't made with the intentions of cleansing the world as Hitler believed. He simply took it over and was able to take control and abuse his power. Saying that the entire party believed in this is almost like saying that every German was a Nazi. Hitler was an exception with amazing abilities in hortatory and persuasive public speaking that allowed him to dissuade others. He knew this and used it to spread his ideas, but the Nazi party that was originally developed didn't necessarily agree with him. Actually, I believe he and some others burned down a government building at some point, but I'm not the best history student and I'm going to stop before I get completely off base.

And while free speech does have limits, those limits don't include offending others or being outright bigoted or narrow-minded.

Sorry for getting off-topic, but at least the topic was, I believe, fully addressed.

I completely agree with you Mark.
I strongly disagree with what this punk ass displays. It's wrong- and we all know it. This board has rules that concern racism, and that clearly violates it.

We don't live in a perfect society, freedom of speech does have its flaws. The net effect may still be positive, but that doesn't mean we should take these occurances lightly.

We may not have control over what this scum bag can do outside this board, but we can on this board. There are rules here, and that is a racist pic that this misguided fool has.

He has the right to do it. It doesn't bother me. I see people all around town with confederate flags on their cars, houses, and clothing. Does this mean they have anything to do with the American Confederacy? No, they think it makes them cool. A picture is in fact just a picture.

Yeah, in fact, I find someone wearing a shirt or displaying images that support the current administration in office pretty offensive. I mean, they are supporting terrorism by displaying these images. It's horrible.

Open chat is full of dodgey stuff as a member mentioned earlier, but that's to be expected there, but this is the Training forum. It's supposed to be a serious place of discussion, not a place to encounter elements of racism.

A picture isn't just a picture, it's what it represents. I find it unnerving how people are supporting a Nazi on this board.
