want to start training
is this the right time for me to start training now?
im 19 next month, 5 foot 6, 8 stones in weight!! im pretty sure i wont gain anymore size so i thought i'll start now as i heard somewhere that "dont train till ur body is fully developed". so could someone give me any tips basically i want to get more muscle and strength, im generally quite fit as i am still one of the fastest runners around all my mates but since i left school my speed has generally come down cos i used to play sports nearly everyday back then during break times (im sick and tired of not being able to hold off opponents during football) |

basically i dont want to get to weights just yet cos i cant afford all the weights at the moment due to college fees and travel costs!!
at the moment i just want to do stuff like, pushups, situps, chinups and exercises which strengthen my legs, arms, and chest, but i cant work out what "sets" "reps" mean and the routine aswell!! so could someone just give me a sort of routine help on what to do so i can build myself up, |

There might be a hole-in-the-wall type gym, or even a garage gym around if you look hard enough. The first is usually very cheap, the second is usually free

What's wrong with getting him started on a kick ass bodyweight program???
Weights are not the only way!!!!!! Come on people, body weight exercises are the best way to start off in my opinion. He can learn a lot and get very strong just learning how to move his own weight..... Just get a pull up bar and you are good to go.... Pushups (so many to choose from) Hindu squats, single leg squats, sissy squats Bridgework Chin ups and pull ups Dorms are perfect places for doing bodyweight routines because you don't need a lot of space and you can do them any time of day or night (between drinking and studying). ![]() |
