    1 Mile Run goal time

What would be a realistic goal for a mile run.
    I'm 6'1" 180 pounds, I believe 8-9% body fat....ectomorph, thin build.

I'm going to run it tonight....I'm think I'll get it in about 7 min.

I forgot to mention that I chose the 1-mile because I figure it is a short enough distance to prevent muscle wasting cardio.

I know HIIT would be more productive for fat loss but I want to set a mile run goal time.

That should be no problem. I ran it in 6 minutes and we're about the same size.

Sure they are all fake. I really bench max 95 and can barely squat 115 half way. I'm really an over-weight fatass who can't even bench 1/3 his BW. BTW, my real mile time was about 14 minutes and a quarter.

If you want to be a bodybuilder, then just under 7 minutes is fine. If you want to be a runner, then under 5 minutes is what you should shoot for. If you are somewhere in-between, then a 6 minute mile is very respectable.

I always thought that was average, because I knew at least 10 guys who could do it in the low low 5's.

6 is pretty average. About 90% of the guys on my football team can run a in the 6 minutes. Got a few guys who can break into the high 4:00's.

So most of the offensive lineman on your team can break a 6 minute mile? What is your time Jordan?

Well we only have 12 offensive lineman right now - and 3-4 of them are under 170lbs ( small school of about 450 ) - and we have about 50 skill guys. I ran a 9:45 today without pushing myself to hard. Our biggest lineman who ran a 6 minute was my best friend who just moved to defensive lineman from fullback and he weights 190.

So if our 179 lb Nate ran a 6 minute mile, like your 190 lb fullback friend, then that would be very respectable.... wouldn't it

Presidential Fitness Award requires a 6 minute or less mile.

In the football team's intrasquad competition, our DL (all weigh 220-268) ran an average combined 5:50 minute mile. We didn't test the LBs, CBs, or WRs cause we are lazy SOBs.

But yeah, seven minutes is respectable. Work at it because with your body type you could run much faster after a few weeks of workout.
Objective: Gain 20-30 pounds in five months.

    Weekly Weights & Heights:
    4/25/06 -- start -- 5'9, 156
    5/04/06 -- fever -- 148 (no food, no supps)
    5/14/06 -- one week -- 159 (10 pounds...damn)

Well our track team, and soccer team consist of the same guys on the football team. We had a freshman run a 4:58, a sophmore run a 4:56, and 3 juniors who ran 4:55's - all in a meet this year.

No, you missed the part where he said everyone on his football team ALSO has the world record for their weight class in Squat, Bench, Dead, etc.

Those guys on the football team are probably really small and weak...no one mentioned that.

I ran it in 7:17 a couple hours ago. I think I can work on getting it to 6:00 while still trying to slowly gain mass and then cutting.....as normal.

I would put Foreman's estimate of 5-6min as the most likely answer, assuming you put modest effort in.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.
