    Check out what I built

Here's a picture of my see saw dip / tricep machine I built. The reason for it is because of bad shoulders. I can't just start off with my own bodyweight doing dips. So I use this first to get use to weight. I end up putting about 240 lbs on the other end working up from 100. By the time I do that, my shoulders are warmed up and then I can go over to the dip station and do weight bar dips. Pretty cool hah.

Nice, I think the pillow just looks divine amongst the manly machines.

No really, you can even make a shrug machine, make it so that bar won't hit your jewels.

I'll tell you what the pillow is for. When doing heavy rows, the weight causes you to lose air in the lungs. So I pad it more with that small pillow and it helps 100%. It is necessary to have additional padding. This is one of the drawbacks of supported rows. Collapsing the lungs when heavy weight is used. I use that pillow and this takes away 90% of that problem.
I'm getting ready to build a bar that slides into the ends. Now I could do pulldowns with it. I also figured the other day that by lying on a low bench, I could do Rows by pulling down. So the machine could be very versatile

Got you. I get that same pressure when I used that machine, it's a pain to get comfortable on the machine.

That's a supported incline ROW you dumbshit. . This is what Min0 and i are talking about. When your resting your chest on the rower and have heavy weight, it takes away your air. So by using additional padding it helps stop that about 90% allowing you to use the machine.

I think it's admirable that you can fabricate something like that that actually works. I don't think you ever mentioned being an engineer when talking about your plethora of previous occupations, but that could definitely have been a possibility for you.

Retired cop and ex pro wrestler. Built my own home and gym and never built anything before. I just know how to do things. not sure why. I do know that while being tested for various things, that my mechanical abilities were in the top 3% in the nation. Hell i did all the drywall, electrical, plumbing and tiling in this 2300 sq ft house. The gym is 760 sq ft.

    Thumbs up Very Nice!!!

Very nice job on building your own dip-machine. I would be dangerous if I were as mechanically inclined as you are.

It's nice to see your handywork, Tough. It just shows if you have skills and the passion you can accomplish a lot. It's great to be able to make custom shit that is't shit. It looks very well built. You could make a lot of money selling custom made home machines. A lot of guys/ girls would love to train at home if they had a gym like yours.

I enjoy lifting in my basement 100X more then I did at the Y. It's cheaper, I can be much more focused, more convenient cos I can go down there anytime opposed to having to drive to the Y.

And that's exactly the reason I built this machine. Man I can start out at 10 lbs if I choose and work my way up so after so many warm up sets I can then do weighted dips.

Like you I can't do 1 dip with just my bodyweight because of the shoulders. Just no way to warm them up tp get them use to the weight. But with this machine you can get a good warm up. The ither day I had to much weight on the machine and it lifted me up. So I had to add 100 lbs to me

    So...

The toughest guy on this board can't dip his own bodyweight and needs a pillow for his chest so the pad doesn't hurt him.

Having said that...Your gym looks fucking awesome TOM, mad props.

Sick gym man. I wish i had the convenience of having a gym at home.
Let me describe the perfect date: I take her out to a nice dinner. She looks amazing. Some guy tries to hit on her... now he wants to fight - so I grab him - I throw him into the jukebox! Then the other ninja’s got a knife, he comes at me, we grapple, I turn his knife on him. Blood on the dance floor. She’s scared now. I take her home. I’m holding her in my arms. I reach in for a kiss... I hear something in the leaves, I flip her around, she gets a poison arrow right in her back. She was in on it the whole time... but I knew...
