Question Training youngsters

Evening folks. I am coaching my 10 year old cousin who is a football (soccer) goalkeper. Although he is a pretty talented lad, he is a little bit on the skinny side.

I was just wondering what could be done in terms of bulking him up. I realise that he is still developing, possibly quicker at the moment than he ever will, but are there any generally minor routines with weights etc. that might help him on his way.

Locally, there are sessions at the local gym for under-16's, but at 10 is he still a little bit on the young side? He really needs to work on his upper body strength, but also his upper legs.

Any help appreciated, cheers.

At 10 years old I would keep him away from weights for a couple years yet, have him work on stuff like push ups, pull ups, sit ups etc.
If your going to do weights anyway then at least use a VERY light weight and keep the reps up at 12-15 amd MAKE SURE HE'S USING THE BEST FORM!!!

Most important thing for him at that age is to eat right and eat ALOT!!

Cool

Also for legs he could do step ups.... Stand at the bottom of the stairs...then step up to the second stair using his right leg... then use his left... do 3-4 sets of 15 reps with each leg

Thoughts are more powerful then Matter
