    Loonnngg hiatus

Ok, so I've been on "break" from working out for a LONNGGGG time.. I feel guilty about it now.. and also angry...

Cause I went from being in decent shape to horrible...

I'm basically the same weight now..(as I was when i worked out) except I've reverted to the same amount of muscle I had before I ever started working out....

So basically before I was around 150-155... fairly low b/f nothing that would show my abs.. but I had some definition..... 10-12%.. not a WHOLE lot.. but something. I didn't look chubby is my point.

Now, I'm 155-160.. except I've lost all that muscle.

Basically my goal is to get thinner.. I don't care too much about getting buff anymore.. I'd rather just maintain a somewhat slim physique and remain in good health now.... perhaps once I drop in weight I'll start lifting weights again to gain some muscle..

I just don't like the way I look when I lift weights to gain mass.. I look wayyyyyy too round.. I don't like it.. and I'm not controlled enough to diet and shred my body fat..

So, basically.. I'm open to suggestions?

I try to keep my diet around 2000 calories right now and I have started running MWF and I play light basketball T, TH.

    Suggestions?

    Primary Goal: Lose weight.

start lifting weights. You goal shouldn't be to get thinner. It should be to get learner. Don't worry about your body weight. If anything you are already to light.

Work with weigths, start with higher reps (12-15) and lower volume (2-3 sets) and work on technique, improving intra/intermuscular connection, raising work capacity and building back some strength and muscular endurance. After about 5-6 weeks start to increase the intensity (8-12 reps) and work a little heavier. Don't do to much cardio right from the start. get your diet in order, that is the most important part. read the stickies.

Perhaps I painted a more dreadful picture than is true.

I'm not fat.. or anything like that.

I'm simply very unhappy with my physique.. whereas before I wasn't too ashamed of it.

My diet is pretty good, I eat at home almost exclusively minus a few times during the week (mostly weekend, hey I'm a college student)
Lean meats.. veggies, etc.. I don't eat fatty.

fat or not, you are coming back from a lay off. you need to start somewhere.

post your diet, meal by meal, with all the macros in the diet forum. they can help you there.

put together a training program and we can help you here.

if you are eating in a caloric defecit and trying to loose fat then you are going to build muscle.....it doesn't work like that. you need to eat to gain muscle! Otherwise, you need to lift properly and with proper intensity to re-tain the small amount of muscle you do have. otherwise your metabolism will go to shit when you diet down and you will be even more skinny fat.

However, you may very well be able to gain some muscle mass and shed fat simultaneously if you are coming back from a very long hiatus. Enjoy while it lasts.

true, but at 155lbs I think it would have to be down right fucking magic to make him blow up to what he considers "big". Pretty much lighting would have to strike.

    *sigh*

You guys need to learn how to read and stop being nazi bodybuilders here.

I said I don't want to build muscle again... I don't want to lift weights anymore, at least not right now. I don't care about muscle currently.

I am very aware that a caloric deficit means essentially no muscle building is possible...(without certain chemicals) I'm ok with that... In fact I don't want to build muscle currently... I'm perfectly fine with muscle loss right now.

    a) neither of us are bodybuilders.

    b) if you "don't want to lift weights anymore" and are "perfectly fine with muscle loss right now".....

then don't lifts weights. just run and run and run and eat less and run and run and eat less and run. Look out though because you will resemble that of a pre-pubescent girl more then an average guy. Couple that with muscle loss and a shot metabolism and the results you will have when you start eating again will be outstanding....think, skinny fat marathon runner build.

go for it dude!! You can do it!!

    Jesus christ this is asinine.

    I don't care if you're a bber or a powerlifter or a whatever

I came here looking for help on how to loose weight.

My diet is down, I'm not new to the whole dieting and eating properly deal.

Telling someone "To run and run and run and eat less" is alot like telling someone to just lift heavy stuff and eat more if they're looking to bulk up.

Just like training properly with weights, there are ways to properly run and jog.

I've since found sound advice on my mode of action.

Also, you don't know my bodytype.... I want to be slim. I look good slim, thanks for your concern, but frankly, I don't care.

Furthermore, and I'm sure you're aware of this, there are ways to ease your body back into the normal routine of things.. calories respective of maintaining current bodyweight and such.

I simply wanted advice on running/jogging or whatever kind of weight loss exercise you guys would recommend. Anyways, I've since found advice.

    Thanks

We are saying weight loss comes from diet. You don't want to lift weight so DON'T FUCKING LIFT WEIGHTS.

Clearly you are a moron. Good luck on your ever long quest to get as big as my little sister.

    Dude:

you come here and ask a question

    you get answers

you don't like the answers so you bitch about it

so then i give you the answers again, this time in an edgey-er manner

you still complain and claim that you don't want to workout and you already understand this stuff.

If you understand then why ask? Along with your skinniness comes your bitchiness....making you a....Skinny Little Bitch (SLB).

Not necesary. You can loose weight without exercising. Simply ingest less calories than what you expend in a day and you wil loose weight (muscle+fat). Dont expect to look slim and ripped as the result will be a smaller version of yourself, which is what P has been saying.

That was for weight loss. If you want Fat loss, then you need to eat correctly while lifting properly to compell our body to keep the muscle. Without lifting your body has no reason to hang on to the muscle. You need to eat slightly under you caloric requirements so that your body burns the fat for energy and lift heavy enough so that it keep the muscle (and feed it properly as well). This will change your body composition and make you look less 'round' and more 'in shape'.

The previous way will make you a smaller version of yourself or really skinny with ribs and bones protruding. Dont worry about getting huge. It dosent just happen. Especially if you are eating less than your body needs for it to grow.

Yes yes, I appreciate the advice. I'm not being rude here but as I've said before I know all of this.
I said exercise greatly supplements weight loss. Also allows you to eat a bit more.. and if anyone is like me, I supress my appetite by doing enduring exercises.. running... jogging.. etc.

In addition, I'm quite happy with the amount of muscle I have when I am/was a "SLB" I didn't have alot.. but asthetically it was appealing.
