hey just curious, this forum has basically officially shifted from body part training to training movements (push/pull/legs, upper/lower, full body) which i agree is superior; this seems like a recent shift and i was wondering what caused this to become so prevalent, was there a study or an article published recently or anything? just wondering

The idea of balancing the push and pull movements is heavily touted by many these days, including Alwyn Cosgrove. But, it is not a new idea either. I first heard about it around 3.5 years ago in a biomechanics class/lecture with kineseologist, Dr. Paul Juris.
I think it just seems like it is out there more because Dale, Pimp and I have decided to write stickies over the past few months so that is why it probably seems like it is pushed more.

Sounds good, yeah I was just wondering more about the prevalence of these ideas. I agree you, Dale, and Cowpimp have been doing a good job of promoting it on this board and that explains a lot of the prevalance here. What about with the majority of lifters outside this board, do you tend to see them still training bodyparts?Originally Posted by P-funk

If you go to hardcore BBing boards though, they are training body parts still. Old habits die young.
You have to remeber though, Dale, Pimp and I are not BB'ers. That drastically influences the methods we use in training ourselves, our clients and the information that we dole out.

i used to post at davins bodybuilding and fitness forums, they still train bodyparts only- thats why i used to think bodypart was the best lol, p-funk or some1 please go convince them that movement training is better, the owner has routines on his site and every poor shmuck on that site follows them, lol i hope no1 from there see's this!
Good luck with that.Originally Posted by kenwood

At gyms I always see people implementing body part splits still. Virtually no one I talk to trains movements. Most trainers continue to use body part splits too from what I can tell.Originally Posted by MWpro

What do you mean by this? A movement based split is no more difficult to lay out or execute than a bodypart split is.Originally Posted by assassin
