everyone's different.
I get the best results using resistance for rep 12-15 range, a couple times a week.
cable crunches
decline crunches & oblique twists
throwdowns (if you have a training partner)
weighted reverse crunches
Whats a good ab routine?
Thanks,
J

^ pretty much the same. I also do weighted for 12-15 reps, but i do crunches and reverse crunches.
And oblique (cross) crunches without weight.
Only do them once a week, not too many sets because i dont want to wear them out so they dont perform as well when i need them else where in the week (deads, squats etc).

how many sets ????
Personally I don't do AB's. I let deads, Sldl, bent over rows and other exercises take care of them.
Although ab work is important, you won't see them unless you have low enough bf%.
That said... I like to vary the type of stomach exercise I do eg straight or bent leg crunches, machine curls, or that 1 where you hang and lift your legs up.
I love it when a plan comes together.
I don't do much in the way of ab work, but I typically include situp variations, dragon flags, rotational movements, and sometimes leg raises into my programs. Planks variations are great too. I usually don't do much in the way of crunching movements.

ummm who here uses weights while doing abs exercises
???
I do and love it. I crunch on a decline bench with 25-35 Ibs. plate on the chest. I hold a 10 pound medicine ball between my knees for knee raises. When I get too tired, I drop the ball and keep going. I think I've worked my way up to this point over the years I woudn't start out doing that. Definitely got to do some other deep ab work and lower back work to balance things out.Originally Posted by assassin
Always. I want my abs to be strong, so I train them with a system of progressive resistance just like any other muscle.Originally Posted by assassin
