    question

What is the main different between a 'gym' and a 'healthy club' and which one is better? I have loads of health clubs around where I like in the UK which are open 6am-10pm durin the week and 7am-7pm at the weekend, the only raw blood and sweat gym around is open from 10am-10pm durin the week and 10am-2pm at weekend which means its a pain in the ass to get to, when I am working nites I have to get home ( usually by 6.30am) and try not to fall asleep as I have to be up for 8am, so I can shower, eat and then get to the gym for 10am.

Life would be easier if I could go straight from work to the health club, are there any disadvantages to working out in a health club rather than a blood and sweat gym?

The quality of a gym depends largely on the management and members. If the management is cool, then they won't mind the occasional heavy lifter working out at their health club; same thing goes for the members. If your management is a bunch of panzies, then they will bitch at you for deadlifting and people will complain about chalk spots over by the power rack (If they have a power rack).

Ask if you can get a free trial for like a week. Most gyms will do that. Then you can see for yourself if you like it there or not.

Health clubs, from my experience, are for people who want to relax or do circuit training ie using machines but not do any serious training.

Real gyms, at least based on my area, are usually equipped with a greater range of useful machines and a full range of free weights etc. has member who want to get into shape. However, £ for £, the real gyms may appear less fancy but will be more beneficial.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Been to the health club and they have put me on a 'hypertrophy' program, basically follow a strict high protein, complex carb diet, loads of water, and do one exercise per body part (ie bench press for chest), but select a weight where u find it hard to push out the last 4 reps of a 12 rep max. They've got me leg pressing my body weight. Will keep u guys up to date with my results.
